My feelings about dog names is that the dogs have to live with them for a very long time.

Little dogs live very long doggy lives. We had a female Maltese who reached 16 years.

Her name was Jane Austin (we had Jane and Penny).

We also have always given our dogs first and last names.

When take the dogs to the vet the receptionist asks for last name, and I always ask, "Mine or theirs?"

Tallulah and Truman both have full names.

Tallulah Bankhead and Truman Capote.

At the moment we still have our Baltic booking, but I think we will not be on the cruise. No hurry to cancel. We will look at whatever Monica comes up with re other cruise lines, and then decide about the WB TA. Might even do something completely different.

It is a bad time to have children off school with them just having started. Plus the one way airfare is a pain.

Marilyn

Aye, we just wait and see until end of 2009 and see what dollars like...we just saving up and not pay up every month *** dollars very poor exchange at the moment.

I think it will be last cruise as kids grown up as more expensive for us...::cry::

but who know?

On Xmas, my brother was telling me that he might go to Australia for Deaf International Bowling held at Perth in April 2011.

I was telling Ian family that we are thinking go back to Australia to see him for a week then travel over to Sydney to see our families then flight to Dubai for 3 nights... for my special birthday... School allow if travel to Australia to see family...

I wait and see if my brother get the International Bowling... of course he will be because he won Gold medal last year...(twice).. he had been in NZ and won Gold medal too...

they don't have to be disney related....I did want two bits - for Mr. Two Bits at UF, but everyone doesn't like that.

They're really beautiful V.....I would name them sugar and spice.

John - I keep forgetting to let you know this...I thought of you & your family many times as I walked around the Disney's Vero Beach resort. I could picture Sophia in the pool & going down the slide. :goodvibes

It's so good to see you back....you've been thought of often

And we're getting very antsy waiting on RCL to list summer of 2010 cruises! Although, for me, the Baltic is looking very unlikely and that's mostly due to being port entensive and the additional expenses involved therein. Especially since, in my head, I keep comparing it to the cost of the trans-atlantic.

BTW, Good Morning Everyone!

.

morning all - we would like the human girls to take part in naming them but so far they have picked rose and nose.

:rotfl2: I haven't come up with anything clever, but I do suggest to NOT have rhyming names, as they are more difficult for the pups to differentiate between.

Reminds me of a funny horse story. Peg trained our (first mine, then hers) part Arabian gelding with voice commands. Unfortunately, anytime you said anything that sounded like 'whoa' he would stop dead in his tracks. So, no riding Buddy and commenting on the 'snow' or asking others where they wanted to 'go' unless you wanted to spend time hanging off his neck or lying on the ground! :rotfl:

hey guys - we need some puppy names - we now are the owners o two teacup Chihuahua/pomeranians! the girls are in Love!

Too bad one of them is not male . . . I would name that one Chip for the teacup from Beauty and the Beast.

Sophia says Lilly and Bay?

Thank you Monica . . . just when I thought I had some time, they sent my brother back to the hospital yesterday, so several hours in the ER again. His platelets were low . . . Today I had to move all of his stuff (he tends to "move in" wherever they put him, and with him buying Christmas gifts, it was even worse!

Ian, since I could not post a quote from the old thread-

I chastise the young guys on my team all the time. They claim I use "big words."

I accused them of using "Newspeak" as in 1984. Apparently NONE of them ever read 1984.

I told them that the concept behind Newspeak and Big Brother was that we use language to express our thoughts. With Newspeak, the concept was, if you limit vocabulary, you hamper the ability to express complex ideas.

The larger the vocabulary, the better able we are to express complexity and subtle differences.

One if my guys is a musician an I asked him to imagine composing but only being able to use 2 notes, with no variance. You can compose music, but not as complex as you can with a full freight of notes and color.

I think that texting, email and IM are dangerous in their ways. One of my remote testers would send me emails using texting abbreviations.

I asked her if her Intranet provider charged her for emails by the number of characters. It drove me crazy.

My guys have said that all the young people do it, to which I responded, "If all the young people jump off the roof, do you have to as well?"

I mean I was young too, and much wilder than any of my guys are.

It's sort of strange if I compare generations, their world electronically is larger but physically their world is much much much smaller than it was in my day. I mean, their physical worlds seem really miniscule. Almost like they're trapped by their cell phones into tiny little spaces.

Their curiosity about things seems much more limited. Plus there's also an almost willful ignorance.

They also seem to shock incredibly easily, which surprises me the most.

I must be turning into an old git.

An interesting description that I got from someone else . . . today's young adults are "digital natives", and try as we might, our generation is composed of "digital immigrants". Although, many of us here I would think of as the first digital "explorers". I agree with much of what you said, but think of this example . . .

Last week, our son went to a Brown's game with a friend from High School, who is going to college at USC. She IM'd him, and asked him if he wanted to go with her. They have kept in touch over the three years since they graduated because of the ease of digital communication.

Think about what used to happen with our generation. My friends who went far away to school, I almost totally lost touch with. You would have to either write a letter, or heaven forbid call LONG DISTANCE to talk to them - and the communication might be brief, or with tremendous gaps of experience. Digital communication has allowed a closeness and keeping in touch that we could have only dreamed of. I am still not in touch with such friends.

These boards are also a good way to see how things have changed for the better and allowed new connections.

From another "old git"

V . . . Sophia just remembered you had a Lilly, so probably not a good choice.

morning all - we would like the human girls to take part in naming them but so far they have picked rose and nose.

OK, so here are some names. Some human and some "humanesque" and some not.

If you want Disney, how about the good fairies? There are 3 so pick 2: Flora, Fauna and Merriweather.

Mulan and Aurora (actually I rather like Aurora).

Thistle and Heather (playing off of that Jackie woman's sister's pups, Faith and Charity).

Now for some literary names we've considered in the past:

Elizabeth (as Elizabeth Barrett Browning) and Emily (as Emily Bronte) (you get the nice nicknames of Lizzie and Emmie).

OK, my ideas for now.

Now we're off to the movies ... again.

HEY....we need a movie review from yesterday mister.

I love the literary names. Years ago we had a cat named Rupert, from Rupert Birkin in D.H. Lawrence's "Women in Love" and his sister was Emma from Emma Bovery in G. Flaubert's "Madame Bovaery". This comes from living with a sister with a masters in lit.
