Here's what we're doing this Friday: http://www.silverbellsinthecity.org/
It's a HUGE deal in our city every year. My mom has come every year I've lived in Lansing to join me because it's so much fun. It's always on a Friday night, so Tyler's never been able to go since he's at his dad's. My mom asks every year if Tyler will ever be able to join us, but I always forget to ask his dad. Well, this time I remembered, he said yes, and my mom's coming to town too again.
It's sad that he's never been because almost every kid in Lansing and from other cities goes every year, or at least a few times. His dad has lived here his whole life and has only been TWICE.
It's an awesome parade, then they light the State Christmas tree, then they shoot fireworks off the Capitol Building right after. You can see Santa and live reindeer, guys walk around with giant containers of hot chocolate on their back to pass out free cups of it to everybody, you can buy a pack of roasted chestnuts for $1, there's live music everywhere, just lots of fun stuff! OH, and the best part of the parade is the end, of course, when Santa comes, BUT in our city, he rides on a FIRETRUCK that's completely covered in Christmas lights with a Christmas wreath on the front.
I work until 5, and the parade starts at 6, but you really have to be there at 5 because of the crowds. People come from all over the State for this. So my mom will pick Tyler up from school (provided she doesn't get lost) and will meet me down there. I'll tell her where my friend Libby and her family will be standing and saving a spot for us, and Tyler will help my mom find them, then I'll join them all as soon as I can.
I CAN'T WAIT!
