Deb, this link shows everything we plan on seeing:
http://www.paradisemi.org/ParadiseAttractions.php Our main focus, and what triggered the idea of this trip, is the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum because of Tyler's interest in the Edmund Fitzgerald wreck. He's been asking me to go up there for 3 years now. While we're there, we'll stay in Paradise, MI because it's centrally located to other things I want us to see while we're up there. This is in the Upper Peninsula of MI and it's basically all forest up there. We'll be going to see the water falls at Tahquamenon Falls State Park and I plan to hit one particular trail that has an overlook where moose are usually seen, we'll drive over to Soo Locks one day to watch ships go through. I want to go to Oswald's Bear Ranch and maybe Tahquamenon Logging Museum. Then on the way back down we're stopping in Indian River, MI to go to the gift shop run by the author of the "Michigan Chiller" and "American Chiller" books. The author does hang out in the store, so Tyler's hoping to meet him. I've lived in MI my whole life and have never been up to the bridge, so I'm super excited to be driving across it!

I'd like to go to Mackinac Island too (because I've never been, but Tyler has once), but I'm not sure yet how many days we'll have up there. Probably only 4 days.
Just a little local tidbit: People who live in the U.P. are called Yoopers and have a completely different way of life. They all have very strong Canadian accents (including saying "eh" often) and it's a hunting/fishing/deer camp/beer drinking lifestyle up there, LOL! I've never been, but it's just a well known fact around the state. There is a band called Da Yoopers (who are all from up there), and if you can find any of their songs, they describe life up there.
http://dayoopers.com/ And by the way, those of us who live in the lower peninsula are called Trolls because we live "under the bridge".

It's definitely an interesting state we live in!
