I have put a few Christmas things and candles out today. John is putting the tree together and I will decorate it tomorrow. However, I usually have a very full tree, not classy or posh, just lots and lots of decorations, but with going away on the 2nd Jan, I will put less on so I haven't as much to take off. If you see what I mean. We debated not bothering, but I love the tree.

I'm trying to do one thing for Christmas and one thing for the vacation each day. Not doing too bad really.

Holly, how is the snow?

The snow is beautiful! :) Sadly, it stopped sometime overnight, so I think we only ended up with about 7 inches. Unfortunately, it's very windy, so too cold to go sledding. We can handle cold just fine, but with the wind chill, it"s dangerously cold.

Hi friends.....I know it's been a while. I have not been on FB much either. I'm still recouperating from our Turkey day trip. I had steroids for my October trip and it was too close to take them again a month later for my November trip. I'm suffering from extreme exhaustion. At this time of year, the exhaustion is causing me to be depressed because I can't get anything done that needs to be taken care of. I'm about ready to give up on Christmas this year. I bought a two foot tree that comes in a pot. That's all we're putting up this year. I did manage to finish all my shopping online, but I have no energy to wrap anything.

Next month I have the maiden voyage on the Dream. I'm definitely going to be taking steroids for that or I'll sleep right through it. Right now I'm not excited about anything and I could care less about everything. I just want to go back to sleep. It's horrible feeling this way. I feel like I'm never going to get out of this funk. I'm just tired, tired, tired. It's very frustrating, especially at this time of the year when there is so much to be done.

Ohhh Deb... I know how that feels...

Just remember that it's not all gifts and such for Xmas... I'm remembering the birth of Christ. It's been a rough year and I'm just going to get through the best I can...

Take care of yourself most of all!!!:hug:

Hi everybody!

Went to my nieces Christmas dance recital this evening, which was very enjoyable. Kaleigh really wants to take dance, so we'll probably sign her up in the fall.

Monica - sorry you had to cancel a cruise, but looking forward to still seeing you on the Alaska portion :goodvibes

Holly - I'm happy you are getting the snow you want. :thumbsup2

Deb - Hang in there. You know you'll feel better in time.

Hi Marilyn, Albert and anybody else that is around

::yes:: yes you do, Deb put it on the xmas list.
And the girls want someone who will play Barbies with them, so get up here and get busy ;)

::yes:: the girls are looking forward to Christmas. They helped put together the tree today and over the next few days we'll get the decorations put on, and all the other Christmas stuff out. The girls were excited to see it coming out. They were happily playing with old nesting dolls this afternoon. Hope your day isn't too messy! :)

did I ever tell you my nieces got handmade Barbie doll furniture from me when they were little? :goodvibes

so... today was very busy...

Please keep the QM in your thoughts...

She's ok... but today we just did the first 2 of many Drs. appts coming up.

She "forgot" to tell me that she's been not seeing too well lately and she has a benign skin cancer on her eye lid... so we went to check that out - she has to have laser surgery (for Cataracts that came back) (first on Thursday - second 2 weeks later) and hopefully she'll be back to seeing well again. then we need to go to a plastic surgeon for the eye lid...

THEN... when we were in Jersey... she decided it would be a good idea to pass out on me...

so we went and made an appt on Wednesday for a Vasular Dr. (they think she may have a blockage staring in the Carroted artery (yeah... I'm sure I spelled that wrong...)

I told her after that we're going for a brow lift and some liposuction and she'll be all done.

So... not sure what else we're doing before Xmas... my sister's box arrived today - she said I could shake the boxes all I want... but I'm responsible for any breakage... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ohhh well...

Gotta run... it's cold and mom is tired.

Geez, you'd think she doesn't think the holiday season has enough excitement! Tell her to knock it off, LOL! :upsidedow

Michelle, hoping your mom gets the care she needs and feels better soon :grouphug: Hope you manage to keep that wonderful sense of humour of yours too :goodvibes

Well I'm glad you at least have some snow to look at :upsidedow

The cold has settled in here too. It was -10C with a windchill of -18C today, and we are expecting windchill temps of -26C tonight :cold: We have a snow squall warning in effect. They closed two major highways just south of us today. Cars were just sliding and rolling of the highways, and cars were being abandoned because of zero visibility. Hard to believe winter hasn't even officially begun

Marilyn, that's what my tree is like, lots and lots of decorations which all have sentimental value, memories of who gave them or when my kids made them...but certainly not classy or posh  Glad you went ahead and put up your tree, sounds like a good compromise :goodvibes You must be getting so excited to be going away in less than 3 weeks :cool1:

Bad news is that my dad tore a rotator cuff shoveling a couple days ago. He has an KRISHNA tomorrow so they can see whether he needs surgery or just physical therapy. I hope not surgery because he's really turned feeble this past year.

Oh I'm sorry your dad has hurt himself Holly. Sending hugs and pixie dust that he heals quickly, without surgery :wizard:

:thumbsup2 Funny that you should mention nesting dolls Shannon. My SIL has some she brought home from Russia...and my granddaughter loves playing with them when she's at her house! My SIL was just telling me last night that she purchased some at the market recently, also from Russia, and is giving them to Serenity for Christmas :goodvibes

Thanks! I forgot to call him today to see what he found out. :guilty: Will call tomorrow.

Yes Michelle, I hope she gets everything taken care of too and is in tip top shape soon.

Wow, you are so clever. I used to knit Barbie clothes, loads of them, and ordinary dolls clothes too.

so... today was very busy...

Will keep your mom in my prayers Michelle. You must worry so much about her, but most likely things will not be as bad as you might be thinking. Stop shaking the Christmas box!!!:lmao:

Brrrrrr. We moan a bundle when we get below freezing!!! Mind you we have had -12C here, and -21C in the coldest place in Britain, so it has been a cold winter for us so far. Been mild for a few days but the wind is going to be coming from the north again at the end of the week with the promise of snow.

Oh, and they said yesterday that a White Christmas is a cert!!! I hope it all settles for the 2nd and 3rd Jan though.:scared1:

the QM thanks you all for the good wishes... she is doing well and anticipating giving the vascular surgeon a run for his money...

it snowed a little last night... but it is cold enough for it to stay. Anticipating a possible coastal storm... but I'm thinking it's gonna be nothing....

and Marilyn....

We're going to get a tree today... a small one... mom says if it is any taller than she is.. it's out!!! I'm negotiating the trunk and the spindly top... :thumbsup2

I'll let you know how it goes. It's cold enough... she may give in to any tree... :santa:

It's been a long time since I have checked in here. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. :goodvibes I did not want to drag the Christmas boxes in to get the tree and ornaments out, so.....we just bought another cheapo tree and some ornaments at Walmart. We picked out a white tree and we got all teal ornaments. It really is very pretty, even if not traditional.

We will be having the Montana friends (childhood and teenage years friends of Dennis') over for a Christmas gathering this Saturday so I do need to get into the Christmas boxes and find the stockings and a few decorations to put around the house. There are 12 of us and we have great fun when we are together.

Next week we will have Dennis' auntie over for dinner one night and visit with her for a bit. She does not drive after dark so Dennis has to go gather her and then take her home.

Michelle, we will keep QM in our prayers. :flower3::angel:

My mom has been struggling with one thing after another, the latest being a rip in her adrenal gland (rare) after a fall. It should heal on it's own, but was very painful. She sees a surgeon this week just to check and make sure it is healing and not needing intervention. We think that most of her problems are created by anxiety and loneliness. Don't know how to help with those issues. When I say we are coming to see her (she lives in WA near my sister) she will say she can't deal with people being around for very long. We did go just for one day in the summer while we were over in OR, but it is a LONG drive for just a couple of hours with her. 10 hours or more each way in good weather. Her doctor said that over all she is quite healthy for 85.

I'll try to be better about checking in. We do think of you all often. :grouphug:

Good to see you Angie! Miss you and Dennis as always!!! :grouphug: :grouphug: (and the little green guy says hi!)

I was thinking of hanging ornaments from his antennae... maybe some lights too...

He'd drive the RV again if you'd let him... :rolleyes1
