Well everyone... I'm running away for a couple of days...

I'm taking a mental health break and heading up to the lake for a couple of days - my friend Susan has left me the keys to her cabin.

I plan on reading, maybe doing some stitching and if it's nice, sit by the lake and do nothing at all... I've planned 1 1/2 nights of star gazing (before clouds roll in...)

& I'm going to see how long I can go without hitting the library to use the computer... :rolleyes1

Have a great time Michelle, and enjoy the solitude :goodvibes

It would be like being at WDW in your own living room!!!:scared1:

Exactly! :rotfl2: I really don't like kids all that well. Of course I love my own, but really don't want to be around other kids. I'd be OK with a guy who has grown kids, which is usually the case in my age group, but I don't want anybody else's little kids around.

Life got crazy and I didn't make it on here for a couple days. It was great seeing all the pictures you have all been posting.:thumbsup2

Michelle - :goodvibes hope that you are noticing an improvement soon with the new meds from the doctor. Have fun at the lake.

Deb - sounds like John's bosses will get it worked out after they make you jump through the paperwork hoops. :goodvibes

Deborah - sorry to hear about your uncle :grouphug:

Nan - hope you have fun camping and feel better.

Holly - enjoy your pizza and cherry coke. And you & Tyler will have to try geocaching one day; he'd like the treasure hunt aspect of it.:thumbsup2

Hi to everybody!

Shaelyn has gone off for the weekend to the provincial celebration of 100 years of Girl Guides. This is the furthest she's gone from home without family. Its a 10-hour bus ride to Vancouver (chartered bus just for the Girl Guides in town; kids from age 5-18 with leaders) where there's a massive sleepover with about 7500 people. She was a little nervous getting ready to go, but very excited. I was surprised that it was hard for me watching her get on that bus. So its a quiet weekend with us & Kaleigh.

And my little Kaleigh is growing up and lost her first tooth this week! She was happy to get a "twoonie" from the tooth fairy.:goodvibes

Shannon, how exciting that Kaleigh lost her first tooth! :yay: We need a picture please! :)

Shaelyn's going to have a great weekend, filled with fun memories to share with you all when she returns. :goodvibes

Yes, we'll try geocaching soon. I'm not sure what I need or where to look, but I'm SURE Ken will be happy to share info. ;) I do remember he shared a website a couple years ago that shows where there are things to find in one's area, but can't remember the website.

geocaching.com is the website.
You need a GPS handheld unit to do it. :goodvibes

I didn't post this on FaceBook because all my step-siblings and Tyler's cousins are on there.....my dad just called me about an hour ago to tell me he and my stepmom are coming to town tomorrow to take me to lunch because they want to bring Tyler's Easter present and my mother's day present. What bugs me is that they don't plan it when Tyler's here. He loves them and will be so sad if they just come leave a gift for him without him getting to see them. Especially when they're always telling him on the phone that they're going to come see him "soon". When I told them I don't pick him up until 5 tomorrow, my dad said "Oh, we'll already be there and gone by then, so we'll just leave his gift for him". :sad2: He'd much rather see them than have a gift left for him. So I'm trying to get hold of his dad to explain and ask if I can either pick him up early tomorrow or borrow him for an hour for lunch. Yes, an hour. They drive an hour and a half to get here, always stay only one hour, and then drive an hour and a half back home. My mom told me it sounds like they might just not like spending time with him. That's just crappy. What's even more sad is that his grandpa from his dad's side lives in Boca Raton, FL and comes to see Tyler MORE than my dad & stepmom. :sad2:

Sorry, done venting......it just makes me so sad. Every time I mention the subject, they both remind me that I'm the one who moved away and they have 3 other grandkids living in their same city that they need to be there for. :headache: My co-worker Jan goes to West Virginia to see her grandkids more than my dad and stepmom come here. It's just crappy.

Thanks Shannon! You mean like the kind of GPS people have for driving? If so, we're ready to roll!!!!

Holly, sorry about your dad and stepmom behaving like that. Perhaps it isn't done one purpose. They are missing out!

Grrrrrrr! :mad:The annoying guy over on the PC thread is at it again. I wish he would go away. Someone is standing up to him and in a while there will be fisticuffs!! At least he has cancelled the TA cruise.:)

Today is the day you have all been waiting for. Today we are crossing the PANAMA CANAL

Be up on deck early and enjoy coffee and pastries in front of the sports deck. Have your cameras ready and take your patience with you.

We hope for an early start, but this can be delayed by anything that the US government deem more important than a humble Disney cruise, but never fear, we can follow close behind!!;)

There will be a BBQ on deck.

Enjoy your exciting day and don't forget to wave to the photographers.

No, I don't think it's on purpose, I think they're just out of the loop and don't really make an effort otherwise. I've taken about a year break from being the one who always does the out of town driving to visit them because I was tired of being the only one who does it. I guess I'm just going to have to go back to doing that. It stinks, but I suppose it's just the way it is. I was angry about it last night, but have shaken it by now. Tyler probably won't get to see them, turns out he's at cub scout camp with his dad. Just depends on how early they get home. His stepmom told me they're supposed to get home mid-morning, so I'll just wait for his dad to call me when they get home. Perhaps I'll be able to pick him up after lunch, time will tell. It's just not fair to spring this on his dad with no warning, but they will have had lots of "Dad & Tyler only" time with camping, so his dad might actually be ready for a reprieve. LOL!

Oh no! Well, I'm glad somebody is standing up to him. :headache:

Sounds like a good idea to pick Tyler up early if you can. Hopefully his dad will be ready to wave a fond farewell by then!!!!:lmao:

It calmed down and someone has come in to say accept each other's views and leave it!!!

Our Carol told him what for a few weeks ago too!!! She should have been around this time because I bet she would have had a word or two to say!!!

He is probably a very nice guy!!!:confused3

If you want to distract him, ask him when the next Southwest Airlines 'window' opens. Besides, I need to know when I can book my Thanksgiving flights! :lmao: (Assuming you are talking about Alan).

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: You assumed correctly!!! I will ask him for you.

I'm not sure Tyler and his dad will be back from camp early enough for me to pick him up early enough to see my dad & stepmom because it will be hard to find ways to keep them here longer than an hour, sadly. They basically want to drop off gifts, have a quick lunch and head out again. Oh well......only time will tell.

Well, my mom said no to my free tickets to Phantom of the Opera. I wonder if it would be really inappropriate to take Tyler. He loves shows, but I'm wondering if it would be boring for him because the commercials say it's a love story.
