Here still...

Just going back to read...

& yes... you people were chatty today... I'm not sure if that deserves a  or a :scared1:

A wardrobe is a wardrobe, I don't know any other name for it, but I'm sure some must. ;)

I've never heard the term hose pipes before, but I'm assuming it's what we call a garden hose.

I have no idea what a semi-detached house is, so I'm curious now! I will google it.

I say car rental, but I've heard plenty of people say car hire.

And maths, I'd never heard it called that before, but it does make sense. Mathematics = maths. Makes sense to me, but never heard it before. Maybe math is just easier to say? My tongue and teeth are struggling with the "s" on the end as I practice it now. ;)

A wardrobe is the clothes you buy... like saying "I want a whole new wardrobe..."

I have an armoire in my bedroom... that holds my clothes...

We hire a car when it's a limo...

& I live in a townhouse... I am attached to 2 other houses...

I love the differences too and have learned so much from you over the past years. :goodvibes My favorite saying from you is "Oh crumbs!" and actually use it quite frequently! ;)

I started saying "crap" alot with the kids around...

Trying very hard to get those funds built up! :thumbsup2 One good thing in that regard is that one of the 3 secretaries in my department is quitting, she gave her 2 weeks notice a week ago, so this is her last week coming up. It will hurt us to be down to 2, because our department makes up about 75% of the firm's income, and business has been booming this year, so we desperately need 3 of us there. Our firm is notorious for holding off on hiring replacements as long as possible to take advantage of not having to pay that one person's salary for a while, so I will definitely be able to work as much as I want. :goodvibes We'll have to limp along during the week when Tyler is with me because I only work 6 hour days when he's with me, but I'll be able to work quite a few hours on Sat and Sun because I'll be able to bring him in with me, and he'll be happy to do so because he'll be able to play Webkinz on one of the computers (since ours at home died, he's been going through serious Webkinz withdrawal, and my laptop is too small to show the whole page on that site). :thumbsup2 Then when he's at his dad's, I'll work until bedtime every day if I can stand it, just telling myself the whole time, it's only temporary, just until the cruise! :yay:

Or until you fall flat on your face... pace yourself or you're going to end up exhausted and sick...

Holly, I feel like you gave me your Paxil drugs....I can't stay awake. I have not been taking any new drugs or pain killers....so that doesn't explain it. I sleep all day and all night. I think I might be coming down with something. I feel a little loopy today for no good reason. I'm just exhausted.

I was like that until I started the provigil... I'm only taking 1/2 and it 's working pretty good. I still feel like I'm talking a mile a minute sometimes... but maybe it's just me feeling it and not really happening... or I'm driving mom nuts... :rolleyes1

popping in to say HI FOLKS!

Life has been busy, and I haven't been making it on here or Facebook, so I'm way behind.

Hope everybody is doing well and enjoying their summers :goodvibes

No, that would happen if I worked that every day, but it's only for a week at a time because then on the alternate weeks when Tyler's with me, I only work 6 hours a day because that's the child care hours. And I can't drop him off until 9am, so we get to sleep in every day. So it evens out. :thumbsup2 And I only have to do it until the end of August when cruise payment is due. :thumbsup2

OK, it's after midnight, and I have to get up early enough to do laundry before work. :thumbsup2

I thought that the "energizer bunny" was the older lawyer you used to work for so that is why I asked what he thought about you working extra for the cruise. I did not know he lost his wife, changed his lifestyle and was cutting back.

Glad to know that EB is easier to work for. :)

HUSH everybody, she's back!!! :scared1:

:lmao:

It's almost bedtime for me, Michelle. I was ready to go to bed at 8, but then my cherry craving hit, so I had to head to go Krogering. ;) Now I'm craving a salami sandwich, but I think I'll save that to pack for work tomorrow. :thumbsup2 Oh.....and somehow it seems a container of pineapple sherbet fell into my cart! Now I just HAVE to give that a try!

Now I'm hungry...

& I'll go back and watch TV or something so you guys can chat... someone call me when it's almost pg 250...

i wanna come too!

I will give you my address... ;)

Ian will translate for you!

I can't understand him either... :rotfl:

Wow, I'm super babbly today, did I scare everybody off?! ;) Sorry!!! :goodvibes

Uhhhh huh....

Count me in!

Hi Shannon!!!

:rotfl2: And I had a hard time QUITTING saying "crap" when Tyler's around!

Well I had to change when one time when Mark was little I did something and of course "OH Sh1t" came out of my mouth... next morning... it came out of his...:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well.. I went up to Saratoga today... had to go and pick up my lawn seat to see Bon Jovi tomorrow night... As a Jersey Girl... it's my responsibility to go and see Springsteen and Bon Jovi at least ONCE in my lifetime. Last year I did Bruce... so...

You know... lots of people don't know that both Springsteen and Bon Jovi have done a ton of things locally (they both live near the Jersey Shore...) to help their neighborhoods. They are really good guys. :thumbsup2

Ok Jackie,

How about this one:

Still to 'tall' It can't be any taller than the Cruise to Neverland one, or the bottom section is cut off all of them.

.

Jackie... go in and make your font side on your signature the smallest... it will give you room to add the bigger graphics...

Hi Deb, Jan, Gydell and Shannon!!! Nice3 to see you back, even if it is only for a short time.:grouphug:

Only worked just under 5 hours today. That's enough for a weekend day, and I'll do it again tomorrow. I'd changed my mind and was going to stay off tomorrow, but then I remembered Tyler's 8-year checkup with his pediatrician is Monday afternoon, so I'll miss time then and there's tons of work to be done still. He's had trouble breathing for quite some time, even before his 7-yr checkup last year, but when we mentioned it to the Dr. then, it wasn't happening often, and she said not to worry about it unless it gets worse. It doesn't seem to happen more with exertion or exercise, so I'm not thinking asthma, but it's happening more and more frequently. Even when he's lying down sometimes. I'd recently been thinking it's anxiety-related (as are so many of his other problems), but he's been so relaxed recently, I don't think it's anxiety (and we've even reduced one of his meds). So when I made the appointment, they told me they'll do an extended checkup so they can look into that. I'm not too worried about it because like I said, it doesn't seem to affect any activities, or cause him any distress, but it's bothering him (he says it frustrates him more than anything) and you can noticeably see him trying to take deep breaths more and more often. So.....hopefully she can find out what's up with that. :thumbsup2

I hope it is something minor and can be dealt with easily.

Hope you feel better soon Deb. Not a nice way to spend the summer.

Before I run up to the store, I have to share something TOO ADORABLE NOT TO SHARE! :lovestruc When Tyler's dad picked him up last Sunday, stepmom and little Victoria came inside too. They handed me an envelope which said "Tyler's Mommy" and inside was the cutest birthday party invitation I've ever seen! Front and back are below (I covered up the address and phone number):

She's just so adorable (even with her stick-out ears)!!!!

She is very cute indeed.:cutie:

Oh, you wouldn't know him. He is in a soap based in the Yorkshire Dales - 'Emmerdale'. It is filmed close by, and we have a few of the stars living here in Harrogate. He is very nice and his wife is lovely, but 2 of the 3 children are soooo noisy when in the garden playing. Their garden runs close along the back of ours.:sad2: Mark himself is a loud guy as is his 14 year old son. His wife is so sweet and quiet as is their middle 12 year old daughter, but the 5/6 year old daughter is a screamer.:scared1:

You didn't learn that word from me Michelle!

An armoire is too posh for me, but I agree with buying a whole new wardrobe!!!!!:lmao: We have townhouses too, but I always knew them as terrace houses. I think as they built new terrace houses they changed to townhouse to get rid of the stigma of a terrace, so now they try and call them all townhouses!!

I grew up in NYC and we called themr wardrobes. I know because we lived in an old apartment that did not have built in closets, so we had wardrobes. I have no clue when the word armoire crept in.

Two houses that share a common wall are called a semi-detached.

Now here's a differences, houses that share more than one wall I grew up calling row houses rather than terraced houses.

A townhouse meant something much different, they could have been considered a bit posher than a row house.

So houses connected to to each other that were on Sutton Place would be called townhouses. The same buildings in Brooklyn would be called row houses.

The difference referred more to the class of people inhabiting the house, and the cost and quality of the house.

Upper class = townhouse

Middle/working class = rowhouse

To further elaborate the difference between the connotation of row houses verse townhouses:

If you look at Upstairs/Downstairs, the Bellamy's house in London located in Eton Place is connected to the houses on either side of it, and the exterior is the same as the houses on either side and the entire square.

These characteristics are the same as terraced houses you would find in Reading or Yorkshire --- connected on both sides, looks the same as the other houses on the street.

One would not however say that the Bellamy's lived in terraced houses. While for all intents and purposes they are.

The Bellamy's live in a posher neighborhood, they themselves are upper class and the houses are grander.

Marilyn will understand what I'm saying.

It is the same concept I grew up with regarding townhouses vs row houses.

Sutton Place or similar neighborhoods had townhouses.

Working class neighborhoods in Brooklyn or Philly had row houses.

I understand fully, and I think that was what I was trying to say, though now as people have tried over the years to move out of the more working class areas, or actually move back in and do their places up, the houses become Townhouses!!! I probably would have still called the Bellamy's house a terraced house, albeit a posher one, because I hadn't heard of the term townhouse then. Of course, I have now moved on up the social scale so do know better, unless my roots come to the fore that is!!;)

I guess a bit like, as working class, I was brought up eating puddings. Now they are desserts(apart from one or two that will always be puddings, but they are still on the dessert menu and not a pudding menu:laughing:)!! We called them 'sweets' before ever they became desserts! We always prefer the more posher term!!!:lmao: Again, when my roots come through(not my hair ones;)), I will say 'puds'.

OK, have I bored everyone now!!!:rotfl2:
