I posted this over on FB... but I figured I'd add to it with the email that I sent to my siblings... my mother made trip for dinner and I'm still gagging.... we "joke" about it in our family...

this is what I wrote...

HELP!!!

MOM IS MAKING TRIPE FOR DINNER... IN THE PRESSURE COOKER... AND IT'S DISGUSTING!!!

HOUSE WILL NEED TO BE FUMIGATED... MAYBE THE NEIGHBORHOOD TOO... I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THAT WE HAVE SMOTHERED BOTH NEIGHBORS AND 2 DOGS...

I HAD TO COME UPSTAIRS AND CLOSE DOORS AND OPEN WINDOWS... I HAVE MY A/C RUNNING IN MY ROOM TO GET AIR... AND IT'S NOT HELPING... IT'S COMING UP THROUGH THE HEAT VENTS...

I THOUGHT I HAD AN AGREEMENT THAT SHE CAN ONLY COOK THIS CRAP WHEN I AM AWAY LONG ENOUGH TO AIR THE HOUSE OUT...

I CAN'T BELIEVE GRANDMA USED TO LIKE MAKING THIS STUFF... AND THIS CAME FROM A WOMAN WHO ALSO TAUGHT MOM TO MAKE SPAGHETTI SAUCE...

I BELIEVE AN INTERVENTION IS IN ORDER BEFORE SHE BRINGS IT TO YOUR HOUSE TO COOK!!!!

I know what tripe is and I am grossed out on so many levels it makes my head swim.

Thanks Michelle:hug:

I don't think I'll be staying at the GC :sad2: Probably the Best Western :confused3 I believe this is the one that Ian recommended? Guess we still have over a year to figure all this stuff out  Sara and Trevor are joining me on the repo and they can only come a day early, so the day before the cruise they want to see the touristy sights in LA. I do too actually, so we'll need to find a different place to spend the night, possibly 2 nights before the cruise that is close to LA and the port.

We stayed at the Howard Johnsons and liked it just fine. We did have a "premium" room which was not much more and worth it because it did not face the freeway with the noise.

Having been to DL my feeling is that is is definitely NOT worth the extra money to stay at at DL resort. I really think there's no point to it, not like it is in WDW. I wouldn't even waste DVC points by staying at a DL resort.

Don't get me wrong, GC is very nice, just not worth the money in my opinion. It is not immersive like it is at WDW.

When we go again we will stay at one of the hotels on the hotel strip. Even now that there part of the GC has been converted into a DVC resort, I still wouldn't stay there.

Oh, and if we do arrive a day or two early for the Alaskan cruise and go to DL. We won't stay at a Disney property. We'll get one of the hotels on the strip.

Have you gotten the point yet, that I wouldn't spend the hugely extra money for a Disney resort, in DL?

Ian & Sukie ----> DL ------> Disney hotel -----> No

Mom was saying that if we book the Alaska cruises... she would be on board for her birthday again... but I had to break it to her that we get off before... but that wouldn't stop this group from throwing a party anyway...

She'll be 79 that year... :flower3:

definitely need to celebrate that birthday on the ship! :thumbsup2

Ian & Sukie ----> DL ------> Disney hotel -----> No

I have to agree with you, we did stay in the DL hotel once, and it was neat, but I don't find enough perks to justify the costs. We can stay off site and have a shorter walk into the park!

Those 3 bed THV look fab - definitely on our list for the future... Anyway, sounds like we'll be in a similar location as we have a 2 bed already booked at OKW! :goodvibes

We decided to not use points this time around as Disney UK have a ridiculous offer including free DDP and reduced price passes so we'll be renting some of our points out for the first time...

Ooooh!!! How exciting!!! :cool1:

I mentioned THV to Sukie and he wants to stay at OKW again. I think he prefers the 2-bedroom lock-off and the knowledge that he can lock the adjoining door and have privacy.

I'm not too fussed. Last May we stayed in a 1-bedroom at OKW and were in building 45 (our request). It was so secluded and wonderful!

One morning we got up and went out on the balcony and saw a family of otters in the canal, mom, pop and 3 baby otters! To a city child like myself it was fantastic.

I've got a question for you...I'm thinking of visiting DL before the LA to Vancouver repo but that would mean going on Easter weekend, the Monday actually :scared1: Should I try this? Will it be a zoo? I have never been and this might be my only chance to see it. Would you give it a try :confused3

I would go anytime to DL except xmas. Too busy then.

Kathe - :grouphug::grouphug:sending some hugs your way today

and I highly recommend the Tiki Room at DL. Its still the classic version, not the updated version that WDW. :goodvibes

I totally agree, tiki room is my fav place to chill. However, unlike ken/shannon, tay and I arrive early to the park and hit all the coasters right off the bat and get fastpasses for later in the day.

OKW is my fav. resort at WDW of all the ones I saw. We stayed there b4 PC the rooms were huge. I saw SSR my other home resort but it seemed so far away.

Because I am DVC I ususally stayed at Paradise Pier (less points closer than DL) but now that VGC have opened we'll stay there if possible.

My brother and lots of friends always stay at the hilton. They get good rates. Suprisingly good alot of the time.

Thanks for the suggestions for WDW...how about the first week of april? How is the weather then. Exclude this year as it's easter, but that is usually my spring break which normally does not fall around easter. Otherwise, having a middle schooler makes it really hard to pull her out of school to travel.

Not sure if it's sciatica :confused3 The pain is going down my leg some, but also up into my back on that side too?Still having spasms.I am using a heating pad which is helping some. In any case, I'm taking something with Advil in it as well as muscle relaxants but now my tummy hurts

This is also the anniversary of the day I lost my husband :sad1: It's been 8 yrs now.

sending you

Hugs to you, Kathe.:lovestruc

Just posting to say "Hi" to everyone and to say "Wish you were here!"

We wish we were too :lmao:

Ian & Sukie ----> DL ------> Disney hotel -----> No

Ian how do you feel about the Dland hotel?

I think it was totally worth it using DVC points (thanks Marilyn) for the suite @ GC. But....never again after a trip, only on the front end :thumbsup2

Ian ----> Kathe -------> Feel Better!

Thanks Ian  I am feeling some better.

We stayed at the Howard Johnsons and liked it just fine. We did have a "premium" room which was not much more and worth it because it did not face the freeway with the noise.

Okay, I may be doped up, but I get it! Thanks again!

I would go anytime to DL except xmas. Too busy then.

Thanks for your thoughts :thumbsup2

Sciatica is part of what I'm dealing with with the pelvic pain.. it's bad today.. I'm already 1 vicodin in... (and suprised I can still semi spell...)

I feel for you.....sciatica by itself is miserable, let alone all the other stuff you have going on.:hug::hug:

Get a cat and it'll take care of the guinea pigs...

NOOOOO!! :rotfl2: Actually, when I cleaned their cage tonight, I put a divider in so they're now separated. They now each only have 1/2 the space to run around, but I think they're both happy because they were both popcorning like crazy and haven't done that in a while. :goodvibes The one that was a bully was trying to dig under the divider for about an hour and a half, but finally gave up. ;) They can still touch noses and see each other, but no longer have to share anything. Things are much quieter already! :cloud9:

Just posting to say to Michelle that I can access the site no problem... (now ;) )

Off to Edson and Hinton Alberta tomorrow night (Monday) after taking the girls to soccer. My company is opening two new offices as we have been given a new contract by the Alberta Provincial government. Last week was busy with staff orientation this week is busy with networking and setting up desks.

Will be home on Thursday night so i can be at the Olympic torch ceremony on Friday where Shaelyn will be singing the National Anthem (with her choir). Can't miss that for anything!

They must like you better...

& you'd better make sure you bring every camera in the house to get her picture at the torch ceremony!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes:cheer2: :cheer2:

Shannon and I were discussing this tonight.

I'll be bringing my Pentax (the big one). I'll also have my old Canon Powershot with me as a back up and I'll even take the very old Canon which I have given to Shaelyn for her to use for certain things and that I use as an underwater camera. So I'll have 3 cameras with me. Shannon will take her camera with her to take video of the event.

If I only had more than 1 set of arms/hands...

But now it is off to bed. You too Michelle. All is right with the world, the disboards are back up and operating so you can rest easy now.

Morning Marilyn and Deborah! Catch ya in a few...

Ken... I thank you for making the world right...

Sweet Mickey dreams... :cloud9:

Ian, perhaps you can help. Do you recommend staying at the GCH, or should we go with a hotel on the strip??? I didn't quite catch your drift there.
