Good morning all. I'm up at the crack of dawn again. Most likely will need a nap around 9AM! :lmao:

Nose is still stuffy, but will dose up with DayQuil and go into the office for a bit and pick up more supplies (out of juice!). Tomorrow will be 'staging' day for packing for my trip.

.

It's football playoffs in America....I want the Vikings to pound the Cowboys. So far so good....Cowboys 3 and Vikings 14. Keep it going.

The best part about going on a cold vacation is that we bought an electric blanket. Now I'm home with my blanket on and I'm toasty warm on a cold and wintery dismal day.

Not much going on today. It's dark in the middle of the afternoon and very dreary looking outside. It's nice to be inside snug as a bug in a rug.

:rotfl2:It's still open! But since I see there are 12 pages here already, I'm joining you all. But you know I'll have to keep checking over there every day until they close it.

I'm worried is there anything on the old thread we need to see?

A very good Sunday to you all. I am off to work soon to lead my Sunday meetings.

Later today I need to look at airfares and also look at airfares from PHX to Chicago to fly in Truman and Tallulah's nanny.

when is your nanny flying out May?

when is your nanny flying out May?

I think she'll be flying out about April 26th. I have to go ticket shopping for her.

I'm thinking of stitching this... It's called "Sabrina" and I imagine it was inspired by the movie...

Monica... Jackie... Cheri...

FYI... Shirley just put up a warning about breakins in the cars in PC... Lisa's one of the Geeks...

01/17/2010 UPDATE

there have been a number of car breakins soooooooo my suggestion to you if you are going to leave valuable stuff in your cars, make sure they are at least hidden etc. Our hotels have had quite a run so thought I would give you food for thought --IF your car is keyless, please check the key hole before getting in and if it appears that it has been tampered with, go where ever you are and call the police - take notes for your own safety - I just came back trying to get one of the cruisers help and be there if only for support. The cruiser was Lisa Graves and her family - needless to say they were all upset so please just be aware ok - these devils that can do such stuff will get their dues, but not soon enough.
Always
Shirley

I should rent Sukie out, he's great at getting rid of unwanted people.

Oh by the way, some sort of Chicago Tribune associated digital publication has contacted Sukie to see if he would be interested in doing a blog in their publication. I think he's going to give it a shot. I'm not entirely sure there's remuneration, but it would be good exposure. He just has to do what he does best, be himself.

This is very cool! I hope you'll share a link with us all so we can read. :goodvibes When will he start blogging?

Deb, I loved all the pics! Sorry you got sick on the cruise though. But at least you had a nice place to stay holed up. It would be a bummer to be sick and stuck in a Cat. 12. Hope you're feeling better now.

Jackie, hope you feel better quickly!

& Will... well.. he's Will... LOVED both the star wars and the Indiana Jones games I got for his Wii for Xmas... :thumbsup2 (Aunt Shell Rules you know...) I should have used that for my sign in...

Santa brought Tyler Lego Star Wars with his Nintendo DSi and his stepmom has been letting him borrow the Indiana Jones game she got for Christmas with her DSi from his dad. He's hooked on both and can't decide which one he likes better. :thumbsup2

All caught up here, next to catch up on FB and get to bed. :cloud9:

Just a drive by to say HI!
Long time no posting for me. After our wonderful PC cruise I took a disney and vacation break. Mostly to pay off the PC! BUT I am excited that I just booked my next "wonder"ful cruise in April 2011. Mexico on the wonder. I have looked back on these threads and am in awe of the longevity!
I have told people about the wonderful dis community and have missed it. Hope everyone is doing well. Have great upcoming magical vacations.

Steph

Hi Steph...

Welcome back... check in from time to time... we're still talking...

So what are your dates for sailing??? There are some thieves who are doing the last mexico before the repositioning to Alaska... and there are A LOT of us going on the B2B LA to Vancouver to Alaska...

Good morning all. I have today off from work for MLK Day. The first time in my work career that I've had it as a holiday, but now we follow the schedule from the NY company.

Still hard for me to comprehend that as of November 13th my employment ended with one company and I was hired by another.

Speaking of which, my boss is coming to Chicago tomorrow evening. I've been given no agenda and have zero insight into what he wants to discuss over the course of 3 days.

On a perkier note, today is going to be a "me" day.

I bought a new camera for Sukie over the weekend, so I think we may play with it to learn it.

I'm also going to spend some time on the blog software, setting up my site and learning a bit more about the software.

And, lastly, I'm going to be killing me a bunch of bad guys in a video game.

All in all I would say it's a perfectly planned boy day.

look nice and make sure you stick with it finish at end ::yes:: because I only half done on Puppy Love, Toys 2, Teddy for wedding :rolleyes1

The boat filled up....it was almost to capacity. I think they said the capacity was like 2750 and we had somewhere around 26XX something. It was close to full. You can't tell in the pics because we were the second family onboard. When the other families went to eat, we went to take pictures. We had the whole boat to ourselves. I just wish it was warmer. I would have liked to have the whole pool to myself....hahaha.

Deb, Cat 3 can order in the room from any restaurant except Palo. Cats 1 and 2 can order from any restaurant including Palo. Your consierge manager will bring you a menu from all the restaurants. Then you just call room service. It's very nice to not have to get dressed up sometimes. You can just wear lounging clothes to dinner. Also, they set the table for you....with a tablecloth and everything. Very nice.

I think everyone should try consierge just once. Some parts are so very nice and others not so much. For example, me and John always go to guest services to get a print out of our bill half way through every cruise to make sure we're within budget range. We were not permitted to do so in consierge. We had to call our consierge manager and leave a message. Then when he got the message he called us back to confirm. Then he had to go get it printed for us. Then they had to deliver it to us. Then they called to make sure that you got it. Then they also knew my business. When we wanted it, we could have walked down, picked it up, done. No fuss, anonymous, finished.

Ah I see, I got your information for Cat 3....

Oh, it sounds like so much fun tonight Deb. Enjoy!

::yes:: I had a great night and photos in F/B... Two big bosses sat down with us for meals (gulp) but end up good laugh (phew)...My workmate and my friend enjoyed themselves and had a good laugh... They had shot drinks which showed in the photo but I never like any shot that why I tooked the photos... I cannot drink shot like after shock etc... not for me...

I was going to get the Fuji S200EXR which is the camera I recommended to Deb. It is getting incredible reviews as a "prosumer" point and shoot camera, as close as you can get to a DSLR.

However, I joined a couple of photography forums (similar to the DIS), and explained Sukie's needs. He'll be taking a lot of photos in clubs and needs flexibility to work without a flash in low-light.

The feedback on the Fuji was excellent and I saw sample photos that were taken by people that were incredible, but for the types of needs that Sukie, especially the low light, a DSLR was recommended, because he'll ultimately have the ability to change lenses and use a "fast" "prime" lens for the clubs, allowing him to work in very low light without a flash.

That sent me into a panic because I know so little about DSLRs. I spent a fair bit of time doing research and it came down to 3 models based on our budget, the Canon XSi, Nikon D5000 and the Pentax K-x. They are all relatively new models with the Pentax being the newest.

Lot's of discussion on boards later, it was narrowed down to just 2 models, the Nikon and the Pentax. The Canon would never be able to handle light levels as low as the Nikon and Pentax could.

This past Saturday we headed down to a camera store to look at them. It was a real camera store, geared much more towards professionals than people like me. Think of something the size of a good sized Walmart. I didn't even know what 90% of the equipment was for.

They had a wall of refrigerator cases (the ones with doors like in the supermarket) with nothing but different types of film in them!

I had completely forgotten what it was like to shop in an old fashioned store. You know the type where the salespeople don't just work there but also understand the products and technology!

I had to hunt down a salesperson. It was sort of confusing because it was also arranged with "consultation desks," which of course you need if you have people coming in to buy professional studio film, video and digital equipment.

Our salesman was great. No pressure at all.

We ended up getting the Pentax K-x. Sukie preferred it, and after all, he's the one going to be using it the most. It was less "clunky" than the Nikon, smaller in the hands and it weighed (without a lens) 105g (about 1/4 pound) less than the Nikon.

I have to agree with him, it felt right in the hands, not awkward and was not too heavy with the lens.

The price was comparable to the online prices, and the salesman had spent so much time with us, I bought it there. Though I'm not sure how I felt about paying the sales tax.

I am not getting any other lenses right now, not until he learns how to use the camera. Also lenses are a bit of a shock! I never realized how much they cost, as much if not more than the camera!

It was a bit unexpected. I had only intended to go shopping and hadn't thought I'd be buying anything.

I'd still be interested in the Fuji as a major upgrade to our point and shoot family. It is a very amazing camera, especially using it's EXR settings. I'll be exploring that again later in the year.

Ian did you ever get the E-mail with the photos I sent? when I got home here my computer started to resend it :confused3 :confused3 if not I will break it down to smaller sizes and send it again
