Good Morning Friends....Happiest of New Year's Ever!!!

I was alseep last night for all the fun and festivities that I recorded on my TV. John fell asleep early too. So much for us party poopers.

The ear still hurts. I have to eat something before I take the antibiotics so I'll be in the kitchen soon. John just put the megadrops in my ear so hopefully both meds will kick in and do their job very soon.

We have no plans for this weekend....although it is the last one at home before heading out of town next Friday. YEAH! John has laundry to do and packing. I have last minute packing to do. John is outside right now cleaning up some snow that we got. Not a lot....just a few inches.

Now that we are finished with all the holidays....I know that the cruise is the next thing on the list. I'm anxious to get that part started. One more week and then we leave. I hope it goes quickly.

Deb - I hope your ear is better soon.

I'm back from the department store. Quite frankly I'm surprised at how many places are open today. I seem to remember everything being closed on New Year's Day.

The streets and store were pretty empty, but then it's also very cold outside. It's 19F/7C.

I returned the set of sheets without any problem. I've never done that before, but then I've never had a fitted sheet shrink either.

I also did a little housekeeping and took in a slew of video games to Game Stop to trade them in.

What a boring day. But Oh so cozy inside.

Hi Deb. Sorry your ear is still sore. I hope it soon improves. Pain like that is very wearing.

I took the Christmas Cards down today and will do the tree etc on Sunday. Everything always looks so tidy when they are all down doesn't it?

I'm rather bored sitting around now and watching tv! I think I need to get some jigsaws.

I did a little ironing earlier as the pile was going to reach the ceiling soon!!! Doing a little more each day - soon be all hunkydory.:)

Marilyn... they invented permanant press a long time ago... :laundy:

Hi Marilyn, I'm glad you're doing a little at a time too. I'm just not up to speed with this ear thing. I can't even concentrate on taking care of the leg until this ear improves. I have to give it a couple of days on the new meds and then we should see some improvement. I hope!!!

I'm bored too. I have lots of recordings to watch, but everytime I try....I just fall asleep. So the only thing left to do is take down the Christmas decorations. John just came in from outside cleaning up the snow and said....now I can do laundry, cook or play with my camera. Guess which one he opted for. haha.

I'm beyond bored... every time I go out I feel like crap, end up coming home and going back to bed. I still have a bit of a fever... 2 weeks in... was up to watch the ball come down then promptly drugged myself up and went backto sleep... we need to go out and get a few humidifiers... I keep killing them... we have hard water and it gets on the heating coils and boils up like a hot spring...

Hi Marilyn, ::yes:: I will be starting a new job on Jan 18th. My last day here is Jan 15th. I have been with this current company for almost 25 years. So I am excited and scared at the same time. It was a long thought out decision to make the switch, but I know that once I get into my new position I will enjoy it. It is a step up in my automotive career. I'm currently an office manager for a Volkswagen dealership, and my new position is with a Chevrolet/Cadillac dealership as Controller.

Congratulations :banana::cool1::banana:

Update on Sukie.

No surgery today. Listening to his abdomen on there's been some developments that are causing them to wait to because surgery may not be needed. He's on antibiotic drips and that may have helped. The intestinal block may be infection related.

They now have him on a liquid diet. Of course there is drama about the liquid diet, because some of the staff speak questionable English. However he is eating some of what he's been given.

He's also a bit irritated with his roommate's family. They seem like nice people but are under the delusion that the hospital room is a clown car and are trying to see how many people they can cram into the room. They have very loud conversations, frequently involving the phone on speaker so everyone is shouting and the people on the phone are shouting.

I think his favorite part of today was when people crammed into the room for a prayer meeting. The only thing that might have made the event even more complete for him was if they started passing back and forth sausage rolls over his bed.

I would have preferred if he was in the hospital that our doctor is associated with because it's one of the best in the Chicago area, but unfortunately it was just too far away given the state he was in last night.

However he's very pleased with the staff and the quality of the care he's getting.

He's in very good spirits. I'm exhausted and not going back tonight. I didn't sleep last night and it's snowing now and I really don't want to be driving in the snow when I'm this tired, even though the hospital is not far away.

I guess we'll see how he is tomorrow. Right now I'm preparing to spend New Year's Eve in the hospital.

I brought Sukie back home and very happy about it. What a big scare that was, but we are so relieved that he did not have to go under the knife.

He's resting and is on some antibiotics and some other stuff for infections.

The good thing is that he came home on the 31st. We had hit our deductible for 2009 in the fall, so if there's any thing good about this, it happened on the "right" side of the year, before our deductible resets at midnight and we start all over again!

That is great news!!! :cool1:

Taking a little break from exhausting TV viewing. Sukie is sleeping on and off. No parties for us tonight! But, we did go out on the front porch to get a good look at the blue moon.

Happy New Years everyone!

It was too cloudy to really see here.

Good Morning!

Happy first day of 2010. I want EVERYONE to be more healthy this year! Let's agree to take better care of ourselves, physically, emotionally, mentally. We can't take care of those who rely on us if we're not in good shape ourselves.

Take it easy today and remember to hug the loved ones nearby, and send cosmic/cyber hugs to those far away.

Here are mine for all of you!

Good Morning All.

It's going to be another quiet day of reflection at Eastwood Manor. Sukie is still resting and still a bit tender in the abdomen.

It's also 4F/-15.5C so I haven't any great desire to be running around outside.

BUT did you buy the camera??? You definitely should. You know you want to. So just do it....like Nike.

I'm hoping the ear is better by Monday. If not, I'll be calling my doctor and asking if it's okay for me to fly. We may have to drive down to FL and back after all. I have to see if it gets better and if I can fly. I think it is getting better because I'm taking less pain killers so that's a good sign.

John is going to ask the Pharmacist today if I can take my steroids while on all my other meds. We'll see what he says. Fortunately it's a relaxing trip so I won't need a lot of energy.

I'm still debating. I may just wait until the weather is nicer or my birthday because I'll be turning 55 this year and might "deserve" a big present.

NO....don't procrastinate and don't justify....you are past 50 and that entitles you to spoil yourself and buy it for no darn good reason whatsoever. After you do, you'll feel good about it.

Have you tried regularly rinsing the coils with vinegar? I have to do that to my kettle because of our hard water.

Time to share more photos :goodvibes

Its almost 2pm and I have been mostly on the computer all day.

Sounds like you are all enjoying yourselves, and the sick ones are getting better. :goodvibes

Hi Shannon. Love the pics.

Does Ken have a graphic of a formal Tink? We're doing door signs. We need the tink that laughs when you want her to get off the ship but since we're in a suite, John wants one in formal attire. Do you have any like that? You can email directly to John at comanch@ptd.net Thanks for any help you can give us.
