I wrote one check today and paid Mrs. Bush. None of the money was mine! WOOHOO!!!

My wound leg is good again. I guess it was just the transition from steroids back to using the boot compressor instead. Dry and no leaks, inflamation still exists, but it's not extreme and it's under control. No wrapping anymore, just using the boot every night for an hour. And I haven't had an infection since the cellulitis in May. WOOHOO!!!

Left foot toe is getting much better too. Two days of no drugs now and the pain keeps lessening. Soon I won't even be limping anymore. WOOHOO!!!

Every day it's getting better....a little better all the time. It's getting better all the time....better, better, better....getting so much better all the time. A little Beatles music for your lyrical pleasure.

Here's where the shoe falls and the rug gets pulled out....

I talked to my brother yesterday and he said that Jane (ex wife and mother) is having problems with Casey (nephew) not going to school and getting caught in compromising positions with his girlfriend....they're both 17 years old....she says that he doesn't keep his room clean. She's fed up and wants him to live in an apartment with my brother in Texas near the boat. My brother lives on the boat. He doesn't need an apartment just for himself. He said he would have to talk to Casey and if he wanted to could he move in here to finish high school. He thought Casey would want to be here instead of home with his mom and it's going to be too tough for him to have Casey move to Texas with him.

Casey is Tristan's (the marine) younger brother. Jane says that she had one that's perfect and one that's not.

Personally, I think Casey is a good kid. He has a harder time getting along with his mother. Tristan is just like Jane and Casey is just like my brother. Hence the conflict.

Me and John talked it over, we hope he doesn't want to come here, but if he does and it's going to help him get on the right track then he's welcome. He has to follow our rules and he has to get a part time job and go to school and do well. I think he will. He won't be a problem like Tom was. He's even more behaved than Kris is and Kris was a sweetheart when he visited. We'll see what happens.

Feel free to talk about it on here, but DO NOT mention it on FB...both Jane and Tristan are on my friends list. Thanks.

Wow, Deb, you're life is never boring!
Glad to hear the leg and toe are improving.
It ticks me off to hear a parent say they have one perfect child and one not

Long before I had kids, I had to take some arts courses in order to get my science degree, and I chose to take child psychology for 2 semesters. I found it really interesting. One section I really found interesting was all about expectations and how kids will believe what you say about them. If you tell a child they are the the bad one, there's a good chance they will be the bad one, cause they are meeting your expectations.

Anyhow, I hope it all works out for Casey. You and John are very generous to keep taking in kids :upsidedow

I'm coming up on my first WW holidays. I have special meals planned and food and drink outside of the norm coming up.

I did good on the cruise because I had a lot of activity. I didn't do as well in the suite after the cruise. I gained 3 pounds.

Now I'm not active at all and I'll be tempted by good food and drinks again. I know that I'm not going to say no. I can eat half and stop, but what about having chocolates and egg nog in the house and all the special holiday treats....birthday cake, pumpkin pie and coconut custard. HELP!

I'm losing at a weird rate right now too. Since I've been back from vacation....I had gained 3 then I lost 5 then gained 2 then lost 4. How bizarre. I had been losing 2-3 every week before vacation. Overall the numbers are still going down, but how strange.

I couldn't agree more Shannon. John and I were in their presence when Jane and Tristan would comment about Casey and his shortcomings because he wasn't exactly like them, he was just like his father. That's what they said. Me and John were appalled. We did not want to start a war so we kept our mouths shut. This was a few years ago at Tristan's Jr. High graduation. So I know where it's coming from and I'm not suprised to hear that Jane is having issues with Casey. I just feel like the kid deserves a fair chance and he doesn't have it at home.

As far as taking the kids in, me and John would do anything for any of the kids. You would too. You'll see when they get older, they may leave but they come back!!! Just ask Kathe!!:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Right Nana!!!;););)

& you people have a maple leaf on your flag... :rolleyes1

Actually in more southern climes you will find the Maple tree, along with lots of them out east. Here in "northern BC" we don't get many of the reds and not much for Maple trees. But in other locales they are quite plentiful.

Ok just had to post this.

My sister and her family just got back from DL. First time my sis has ever been there without me and the first big trip she has planned all on her own. Anyhow, she did good.

But here is the pic that I just had to post of my "step" nieces. I love it!

I'm really glad we got that there.

(and yes Shannon will have to wait til she gets home to see the pic)

Very cool! :goodvibes

Yesterday and today have been the most boring I've had in quite some time. Absolutely nothing to do at work! I'm sure tomorrow and Friday will be super busy to make up for it though.

My loss pattern was odd but steady, big loss followed by a little or no loss, followed by a gain, followed by a big loss again. This pattern kept repeating.

Regarding foods, eTools has lots of alternative recipes. Another strategy is to prioritize, I'm sure that not all of the treats are must haves, they may be "wanna haves" but they're not must haves. Identify what are the must haves and try working them into the plan in reasonable amounts.

I also understand that diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires are all treats and all of them have very low points.

Ya ya I hear ya Deb.

I have to admit, even I had a nephew on my couch for a few weeks when his parents (my sister) kicked him out because he has just gotten his 17 year old girl friend pregnant :sad2: Sadly, the kid is still a dope and a user of people 13+ years later and these kind of personal family dramas are what shapes my mind and choices when I talk about having the kids out of the house and on their own living with their own choices and decessions.

Of course you have to have an open mind to help the kids, but I TOTALLY agree with Shannon and I choose to have the bar held really high and I expect them to suceed (rather than talk smack about them and have them fail) It's very hard when you watch other adults in your own family not support their children in positive parenting ways. I get it Deb. You and John are those kinds of parents to those kids, and they so need you to be.

Dang, just started raining AGAIN and I'm in the office with no hood. So gotta run to the house and out to get Molly from school.

Ciao

Nan

You're made of stronger stuff than we are. I don't know what we would do.

We were sort of at our wits end with my niece and the way she runs amuck, but then my niece is 46 years old.

I suppose that we would end up doing what you're doing. It's hard for me to shirk responsibility.

Ian you are such a gem!!:laughing: I'm planning on getting PINK diamonds for my birthday...so that's already a given.

That's an excellent idea to prioritize instead of having everything in the house. That's going to be my downfall if I don't put it in check beforehand. Out at the restaurants, I can do fine. I will be getting physical too as soon as the toe gets a little stronger. Thank you. You saved me! Really, it helped.

Did you notice how I ignored the recipe part....that involves cooking! UGH!

I'm glad your weight loss was irregular too. Now I feel normal.

You do what you have to because you love the kid involved. It doesn't matter if that kid is 17 or 37 or if that kid is a nephew or a grandson....when they need help....NOT mooching off of you....but help to get back on their own feet again....then you have got to be there for them. That's what family is all about. When the world kicks you down, your family or family of friends helps you back up. You do it out of love. I know that you would do the same, like it or not, you adjust, you compromise, you make it work temporarily.

Just think, one day that grandson is going to be a teen and maybe not get along so good with mom. Then what if he wants to come and live with grandpa Sukie and grandpa Ian? How could you tell him no?

I'm back. Just finished speedreading through 10 pages.

We had a good Tday (not up to Ian's gourmet standards though ;) ). I decided to try using dill on the steamed carrots. Ken didn't think it sounded good, but everybody liked it :thumbsup2 The chocolate pumpkin cake was good. Just one chocolate cake mix with one can of pumpkin, and then it seemed too thick so I added a cup of milk and then a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. Turned out nice and light, and everybody liked it except Ken (he doesn't like pumpkin at all!). And lots of leftovers (which is why Ken likes it when its at our house).

Ian - your life sounds busy in a good way, except for the wacky mom at WW. I like Deborah's answer the best!

Holly - hope the mouse is gone for good. Ken's bucket trap works great for Hamsters:thumbsup2

Now I've got to get back to work.:sad2: Hi to everybody! :goodvibes

Sounds like some great Thanksgiving food there Shannon!!:)

Oops, posted accidentally, so editing the rest so no smilies!!!
