So Deb, has he started to play with the camera? Has he taken any photos? Does he like the camera?

Yes, Yes and Yes.

Let's put it this way, he took the camera and the netbook to work with him today and left his laptop home. He's getting ready for vacation mode. He'll be playing with it all day today. You'll see him stop by here for a bit later I think.

He was grinning and giggley all night last night after he opened it. I think it was a BIG hit. Thank you Ian.

Welcome to New Year's Eve!

Sukie called me this morning and told him that the surgery is definitely cancelled and now he's on solid foods, because apparently his intestinal track is returning to working order.

I'm expecting that they will discharge him this morning, so I'm not going for a visit. Just waiting for the call to pick him hp.

This has all be a HUGE relief. I was extremely worried about the surgery.

The doctor said that this is the 5th case he's seen of something that looked like an intestinal blockage but was an infection (though the part I don't understand is that Sukie had no fever).

I guess there must be a bug going around, at least in some geographic radius since the commonality is the geographic proximity to this hospital.

So, it looks like we're going to have New Year's Eve at home!

What a relief that Sukie responded to antibiotics and doesn't need surgery. Thank all goodness that he can be home with you tonight ringing in the new year.

Take it easy, both of you and just enjoy each other's company. Lots of Hugs and Love coming your way.

Great news Ian. Enjoy a quiet New Year relaxing.

:lmao:Thanks Marilyn, I'm off and running again! ;)

Glad you're feeling a bit better.

I daren't go look at my ruined farms etc in case I start them up again.. I am going to have so much more time to waste on other things now!!:lmao:

Hi Marilyn, ::yes:: I will be starting a new job on Jan 18th. My last day here is Jan 15th. I have been with this current company for almost 25 years. So I am excited and scared at the same time. It was a long thought out decision to make the switch, but I know that once I get into my new position I will enjoy it. It is a step up in my automotive career. I'm currently an office manager for a Volkswagen dealership, and my new position is with a Chevrolet/Cadillac dealership as Controller.

Thanks Gay, I think having you guys come up that weekend will help me unwind from my final day here. Saddle Ranch here we come.
Congrats! :goodvibes I'm too comfortable in my job after 5 years to move on, so I can only imagine how scary it must be for you after 25 years. Wow! You'll do fine, good luck!

Yes, acute pancreatitis. Nasty illness, but fortunately I didn't go down the road of total organ failure, so I will be ok!!! They couldn't actually treat it, just treat the symptoms and help towards not going worse, so IV fluids, pain relief, oxygen, catheter for measuring output(TMI!!), 4 hourly blood sugar tests etc, fasting and rest and observations. All good!!!!:thumbsup2 Very restfull!!!!!:lmao:
YUCK! I'm so glad you're past all of that.

Must go get some tea now.

Please pop in again sometime.

Still wish we could all cruise again sometime, but it just isn't going to happen.
Well, with all the trips to FL you and John take, and a few cruises now and then, you'll probably get to see most of us now and then. And I'm happy about getting to see you and John on the Panama Canal cruise (if you guys don't drop it)! :yay:

Hi Friends....I've been looped out on vicodin a lot lately....because of my ear not my leg. I went to two doctors today....for the leg and then for the ear. I have cellulitis in my ear....no wonder it hurts so much and is not getting any better with drops and an antibiotic. The leg is not getting any better either. So now I'm on super drugs....eardrops and antibiotic. Hopefully this will help both the ear and the leg.

Needless to say, I won't be getting in the pool onboard the Wonder in a week. John and I were going to do the lazy river at Atlantis on his birthday. Well that's a wash because I can't go in the water. So we changed our excursion. We're going to the Greycliff Hotel Wine and Cheese Pairing instead.

Speaking of John's birthday.....we had cake tonight and he opened his present. I'll let him tell you his thoughts about it.

Ian.....HUGS to you and Sukie. Let us know how he is doing. You take care of yourself too. Many positive thoughts, prayers, pixie dust and LOVE to both of you.

V.....WAY TO GO GIRLFRIEND!!!!! The Controller. AWESOME!!!! Congrats on doing a special anniversary cruise too. You're going to have a blast. This one will be great!!! You have a lot to celebrate in 2010!!

Marilyn.....you are so very welcome and deserving my friend.

Marilyn, Michelle and Monica.....I hope you're all feeling better.

Hi G, Hi Deborah, Hi Gydell, Hi Shannon, Hi Bubba, Hi Kathe, Hi Jackie, Hi Nana.....I miss you all.

I've been in so much pain between the leg and the ear that I just take meds and sleep a lot. Hopefully it will get better now that I have been to two doctors today.
Oh my gosh, Deb! I hope your ear heals quickly.

Update on Sukie.

No surgery today. Listening to his abdomen on there's been some developments that are causing them to wait to because surgery may not be needed. He's on antibiotic drips and that may have helped. The intestinal block may be infection related.

They now have him on a liquid diet. Of course there is drama about the liquid diet, because some of the staff speak questionable English. However he is eating some of what he's been given.

He's also a bit irritated with his roommate's family. They seem like nice people but are under the delusion that the hospital room is a clown car and are trying to see how many people they can cram into the room. They have very loud conversations, frequently involving the phone on speaker so everyone is shouting and the people on the phone are shouting.

I think his favorite part of today was when people crammed into the room for a prayer meeting. The only thing that might have made the event even more complete for him was if they started passing back and forth sausage rolls over his bed.

I would have preferred if he was in the hospital that our doctor is associated with because it's one of the best in the Chicago area, but unfortunately it was just too far away given the state he was in last night.

However he's very pleased with the staff and the quality of the care he's getting.

He's in very good spirits. I'm exhausted and not going back tonight. I didn't sleep last night and it's snowing now and I really don't want to be driving in the snow when I'm this tired, even though the hospital is not far away.

I guess we'll see how he is tomorrow. Right now I'm preparing to spend New Year's Eve in the hospital.
Ian, I'm so sorry about Sukie. I hope the hospital gets it figured out quickly so they can get him on the road to recovery. If you need anything, anything at all, please let me know because remember, I am in driving distance. I'm not offering it just to blow happy smoke up in the air, it's a sincere offer. 517-214-5485. Anytime. I can dump Tyler at his dad's and hit the highway.

I guess I should have read further before my last post. ;) This is GREAT news! :dance3: I was worried.

It's SUCH A WASTE for me to be at work today. I've done absolutely no work in the 2 1/2 hours I've been here. 1 1/2 hour left.

Meanwhile, my mom is with Tyler, hopefully he's behaving (actually, I hope she's behaving too). There's also a plumber there unclogging my bathroom sink. I hope it just needed a snake job and wasn't a major expense.

Deb - is today John's actual bday? If not-when?
Sorry you're not up to snuff...prayers, hugs & PD :grouphug:
I see you guys in just a little over 1 week!:dance3:

Ian - GREAT news about Sukie

I HAVE A VOICE!!!

WOOHOO!!

even though that means I have to take calls today

Feeling better - yeah! 3rd night in a row though of only 4hrs of sleep - it's going to catch up w/ me I'm sure!

Started putting pics from Thanksgiving on snapfish....if anyone wants me to send you an invite to see pics, let me know (email is best). Don't want to just post as dsis doesn't want the kiddos pics on line.

Hoping I get sent home at 1pm....thinking of going to see a movie on the way home (after stopping at Target).

V!! - congrats on the new job ((hugs)) for that :)

So cool to see you about & great news about the cruise :)

Gaylean - great to see you too!

Hi Mon, glad you're starting to feel a little better.

John's actual birthday is 1/11....we just celebrated at home with his son and now we can take down the tree before leaving for vacation. We'll be in Nassau doing a wine and cheese pairing for John's real birthday.

I should be much better in a week. Can't wait to see you at Fishlips. So far, Lisa and Darrell will be meeting us there. YEAH!!!! We'll get John to take pics of the Magic leaving port.:laughing:
