Yeah, I got the outfit, but what's Robbie Burns night? :scratchin

Robbie Burns is a Scottish Poet. Robbie Burns Night is celebrating his birthday on January 25th.

It is basically a second national holiday in Scotland.

There is a big feast and dance. During the meal there are several "formalities" that must be observed. And of course, Haggis is served.

There is the Welcoming speech by the host, followed by the Selkirk Grace and the bringing in the of Haggis (usually led by bagpipes). There is a speech given to the haggis then the supper begins. Then there are speeches to the monarchy, a speech to Burns and a speech to Lassies (which is usually quite comical) and then there is the reply to the speech to the Lassies (usually quite comical as well). A few more toasts and speeches and then it is ended with dancing.

We are going to one on Jan 23rd. I used to belong to the Sons of Scotland Benevolent Society so went to a few of them in the past.

They are usually good fun. This will be the first one that I have gone to that is family friendly so it will be the girls' first one. We thought it would be fun to go out for dinner and dancing as a family as that is a rare item up here. not many are family friendly.

I did find this one through google. Not sure if it is close to you or not.

That's what they've always done here, and still do as far as I know. I've never heard of schools having the day off for the inauguration.

I'll be sure to tape it for Tyler though. He was talking tonight about how excited he is. He's weird. I've never heard of a kid having a favorite president before, until Tyler. His favorite is Lincoln. :confused3

Oh, I TOTALLY agree that every presidential inauguration is living HISTORY! That is the best kind. Of course, I'll admit I am a History Buff from WAAAAAY back. I should have taught high school history instead of going into Laboratory Technology.

Here's something funny. When we were at our friends' house tonight, when the mom was getting the kids ready to make playdough, she was trying to take the top off a new bottle of cooking oil. She was having trouble with it and Tyler said, "Give it to my mom. She can definitely do it because she's been working out!" :rotfl2: She was trying soooo hard not to laugh! :rotfl: I assured her I was only using the treadmill, so I had no extra magical hand strength over her. :lmao:

Yes, Holly, and I'll bet you got that bottle open, too! princess:

Ken, whose the favorite in this game?

What are you... our bookie????

Pardon me missy, but if the truth be known, I
  1. Searched for less expensive car rentals for May
  2. Made sure I had Sukie's SW frequent flyer number and added it to the May booking
  3. Read a book
  4. Researched the history of electric toasters
  5. Took a brief nap

I have not yet sat down to watch TV. It's just 500 channels with nothing to watch anyway.

So... what about the toasters??? We had the one that went over the burner of the stove at the lake...

I don't know, I think with as much time as these QB's are getting, she could take the snap and still do this......

Ohhhh look... next years Xmas card picture... :rotfl:

Yes, the pool would be great for you......BTW....stretching would be the best thing for your "pain in the butt"! Go online and look for sciatica and you'll find some great ones to do in the pool. pixiedust:

MY pain in the butt???? Don't call Nan that!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yeah, I am trying to grow my hair shoulder length......but I keep "trimming". I have just let it go for the last 6 months......it's so hard to keep the scissors out of my hands!!! I go in the bathroom to "straighten" it up and next thing I know, there's hair all over the floor! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I know how you feel. You have to straighten it out and then pixiedust: it's gone. But I like it longer on you.

It won't fit her by then ;)

Thanks, M! That's right, it WON"T fit by summer.......but don't worry, I still have the sewing machine, I can take it in, or use pins to make it smaller.......I am looking forward to that already!!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Nice try Ken... :lmao:

Mine too... just turn it off and back on and it should print... sometime before next wednesday...

Ohhhhh Tag Fairy.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Every time I take a nap I considder it a gift to myself.

Kind of late to help me out with the Ken/Shannon thing. Now I'm in trouble.

Glad to know about the printer....we thought we didn't do something right.

Tag fairy doesn't catch me at my finest or it isn't rated G...who knows.

Take the gift. I'm not up all night like you :scared:

The sciaticais a little better thanks, but I suspect it will flair today as it's starting the same. Just wish I knew what I did to avoid it.
Hey cute dress, it looks a bit like a Norweigian Bunad...here are a couple of cuties from Norway and one made right here in the USA...

\Stretching is the best thing for SCIATICA.......and extra calcium, magnesium and zinc.
