Can anyone explain the difference between a presidential unit and a presidential reserve unit? Any perks or cost differences with the reserve?

I don't believe there is a difference in the units themselves.

Presidential Reserve is one of Wyndham's sales gimmicks. Supposedly certain units are "reserved" for people who pay WAY too much to buy Wyndham, but only for a certain period. After that period expires, those units go into the regular inventory and may be occupied by anyone.

Presidential Reserve - you are not at the mercy of the Wyndham staff - you chose the exact room you want so you know ahead of time if you have view of the lake or view of the fireworks. I think you have to know the property so that you know which unit to reserve. I rented from Vacations Upgrade over a year in advance so that I could get the exact unit I wanted for my trip. You do have to know in advance. They were able to rent the unit I wanted in September 2012 for my Nov. 30, 2013 trip. Once it is a year out the units are available to everyone who owns at WBC. Then 10 months out any Wyndham owner of any other Wyndham property can rent - but we can not chose the unit - just whether or not it is deluxe or presidential.
