Hi everyone,

I have a few questions about WBC if you can help :)
1) I am planning a family trip to Disney 9/2 to 9/6. There are 6 adults and 2 children. I got a quote from Vacation Strategy for $730 for a 3bedroom deluxe. Is this a good price?

2) Is there a huge difference between the 3bedroom deluxe and presidential, space wise? I can get the presidential for $80 more, is that worth it?

3) Where are the 3 bedrooms? Top floors? in specific towers? I want to be able to request the best location for us. Even with kids, we are interested in staying in the parts that are quieter. I know the pirate ship area is crowded, so that is a no for us. Is there a quieter tower but still walkable to a nice pool?

4) I was also told that all the towers have now been renovated, is that true?

5) How is the wireless connection? I heard that before you have to bring a router. Is that still true? How is the speed for streaming movies, like Netflix?

Thank you all!

Let me see if I can answer these questions for you.

1. Unfortunately I can't really speak on pricing since I own and don't know what the going rental rates are... someone else will probably have to speak up.

2. Space wise? Not really. The 3bdrm Presidentials are going to have a LITTLE more square footage than the majority of the Deluxe units, but it won't be a big enough difference to be noticable. The biggest differences are going to the with the upgraded furnishings and decor of the unit. You'll also be located on the upper floors of Tower 6 if you are in the Presidential Unit, whle you could be located in any Tower with a Deluxe.

If you are worried about space, the one thing that might factor into your decision is the sleep situation. A 3bdrm Unit (presidential and deluxe) are going to have 2 bedrooms with king beds, and a 3rd bedroom with 2 Double/Queen beds. The Deluxe Unit will also have a pull-out couch in the living room which would give you another bed if you needed it.

3. 3 bedroom units are located on all floors of all towers. The Presidential units are located exclusively on floor 10 and above in Tower 6. (The one with the pirate ship pool.... but at that height you won't be disturbed much by pool noise in the room w/ the patio door closed).

Because of the layout of the resort, I won't say that there is definately a quieter tower than any other. I've found that in some ways, for any lake-facing unit, the buildings are close enough that you can hear any major noise from the pool areas. (By that, I mean things like the Kareoke at the Pool Bars, and general pool noise). The Lake isn't that large, so any pool is easily to walk to from any tower. The pools are located at the Main Building, Tower 4, Tower 5, Tower 6, the Grande Hotel, And "between" Towers 2 and 3.

4. The oldest Towers, 1-3, Completed their renovation last year. The Newer Towers are not that old, but have gone thru a bit of a furnishing replacement over the past year as well to replace any worn out or damaged furniture.

5. the Wireless connection can be spotty at times. It's obviously going to be much slower at night when everyone is trying to get on. I haven't tried streaming services like Netflix, so I can't really speak to how the quality of it would be for bandwidth and lag sensitive applications like streaming video.

There was also a report here within the past month or so from someone saying that the wired connections in the room were no longer active/available and that the resort is exclusively wireless now. I don't recall if anyone else who has traveled recently has corroborated or disputed this report however.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom deluxe unit back in February. Our unit was in Tower 6 on the second floor facing the pool. It was great. It had the granite countertops and plenty of room. We had a king bed in the master, a queen in the second bedroom and the third bedroom had 2 full size beds. We also could have used the pull-out sofa bed in the living room if we would have needed it (which the presidential's don't have the pull-out sofa).

That price doesn't sound bad to me since it's Labor Day weekend.

What DCTooTall said.

A couple of more specific comments, based on info on the Wyndham owners site.

3 BR Deluxes range from 1,503 to 1,560 square feet. So that may, or may not be, a significant difference in space, depending on the individual unit. They are shown as capacity of 10, with privacy for 6 or 8, depending on configuration. Beds "vary."

3 BR Presidentials are 1,580 square feet, with a capacity of 8, with privacy for 6. Beds are K, 2 Doubles, K. In other words, everyone sleeps in a bed, no sleeper-couches.

Both sizes have two full baths, with the presidential baths being larger. The balcony of the presidential appears to be roughly double that of the deluxe. The kitchen/living/dining areas of the Presidential are larger.

As DCTooTall mentioned, the most noticeable difference (other than the balcony) will be the quality of the furnishings.

If I could get a Presidential for $80 more than a deluxe for an entire week, and had 8 or fewer guests, I'd spend the $80.
