Ways to track teens on DDP for snacks?

We are bringing my niece (age 17) and nephew (age 15) to the World on November 20-27, 2007 for their 3rd trip but 1st time on the DDP. Their parents are not coming-just 2 sets of cool aunties and uncles and 1 set of the most generous grandparents in the world. They will be assigned under the DDP per room so one teen with 1 set of aunt/uncle and one teen with 1 set of g-ma/g-pa.

Besides asking hotel concierge, is there any way that we can tell how many snacks the teens have used per day? We have a very skinny 17 year old girl and one very hungry 15-year old boy so I'm sure his snacks will go far before hers. To add confusion to the rest, we are meeting their 19-year old brother (who lives near Orlando) who will not be on the DDP but who, I'm sure, will connive his way into his sister's snack credits.

Any ideas would be great...I know that they will be "doing their own thing" from time to time and we want ideas on how to best handle things before we get there.

Thanks in advance!

You can ask the hotel desk for a summary of your credits used/available. It won't break it down by who has used them but if you are checking day-by-day it should be fairly easy to figure out.
I like to do it anyway to make sure that the credits were charged properly and to make sure my math adds up. We had a large group a couple of years ago and ended up with 2 TS left on the last day - we had forgotten a couple of people had missed meeting up for dinner because of tummy trouble through the week.

Can't you just trust them to use their one snack per day? After all, they are young adults they should be able to understand that they get one per day or x amount for the week. Tell them that if they want additional snacks they have to pay oop.

I'm with you. Explain that each has 7 snacks to use at their discretion over the course of the stay. Big brother must buy his own unless they give him a taste of their Mickey bar. :goodvibes

It is one snack per night not per day BTW.

I might be very old fashioned but I believe when you set appropriate expectations, children and young adults are pleased to meet them.

Take a deposit, say $20 if they go over they lose the whole thing. Not that unreasonable. They get the $20 back on checkout day, unless you have other reasons to take it. You might consider blocking their ability to rent in room movies and maybe phone calls as well if you are worried.

Teens can just plain clueless and it could cost you. They may not be bad kids, just normal lose their minds from time to time.

I would also give them some DP training. Like the following:
- CS meals come with drinks, maybe drink water with the meal and get a bottled drink some now, some later, won't need to use a snack credit later; also those meals come with a dessert that can be a snack item (desserts at Main St. Bakery are HUGE).
- CS breakfast come with 2 drinks, both can be bottles and one can be for the road
- CS meals can also be combos, be sure they ask, esp your bottomless pit

Also use a couple of snack credits for room snacks (box of donuts, etc.) that will help your bottomless pits. I'd also be sure to book a couple of buffets for them too.
