In an effort to declutter junk, I'm trying to get rid of some old fur coats that I inherited my mom and step mom.
Any ideas?
I would prefer not to do ebay?
I haven't purchased a fur coat so not sure of the value. anyone have experience in getting rid of them?
TIA

If they have sentimental value to you but you just have no use for fur coats, you can probably have them repurposed.

It was not inexpensive, but we had my 103 year old grandma's beautiful fur coats made into teddy bears for the four great granddaughters after her passing. They really turned out beautifully. (Grandma was tiny, otherwise I would have loved to have kept one, she took such great care of them and they were classically cut, sorry anti-fur people...)

Sadly, fur coats are among the products that may have low resale value. The value of the coats will depend on the condition of the pelts, and whether the coats were from a designer. If the pelts are in good condition, a local furrier may buy them to do repair work on similar coats. You may find it easier to donate them to a local theater company for use as costumes.

Good luck!

We sold some for a friend of the family when his wife passed away and we had the best success with vintage shops. A fur shop bought the couple that were in truly like-new condition and paid top dollar, but the vintage shop bought several that were in good but not flawless condition and paid pretty good prices. Around here their inventory and buying are highly seasonal, though, because they don't have storage space for a large amount of off-season buying. You wouldn't have much luck selling a fur now, but in Sept/Oct you'd likely get much more interest.

My mom gave me several that I did not want. I donated them to Good Will. I just wanted them out of my house.
