Wayback Machine DCL website

That’s just cruel. But it also makes the current prices not seem so astronomical.

I wonder what the equivalent price would be after inflation, guessing it's not too far off!
I do like how you can see all categories and room rates on one page and you don't need to click through to see them all

I'm not sure if anyone knows about the Wayback Machine which is the web.archive's website but I thought it would be interesting to see what the DCL website looked like over 20 years ago. A lot of the links work. Check it out. Link below.

Wow did that bring back memories!!! We have been sailing with DCL since 1998 and that sure did bring it back for me.

Wish they would "way back" the prices lol. I remember when kids under 3 only paid port fees and taxes but not an actual cruise fare.

Industry fares dropped in the 2000s and 2010s. Pre-COVID, interior rates were generally cheaper than they were twenty years earlier, ignoring inflation. Big ships have their advantages!

Also, DCL was far more promotional until the 2010s.
We took advantage of an incredible rate in 2010 for our “one and only” Disney cruise. Now at 13 with 14 and 15 booked. It was a 10 night Mediterranean for $999 pp!!! The good old days...

My first dinner was in Parrot Cay (Wonder). Several years later than this menu - 2007. I enjoyed the cold fruit soup. And the crème brûlée cheesecake my nieces brought me (I had to leave thanks to seasickness). Also remember how they had the built-in buffet for boarding day lunch.

I loved when it became Carioca’s. But I am very happy with Rapunzel’s on the Magic. As a venue, they delivered that fairytale magic in the decor.

We did the first 11-N Med of that same year - B2B with the EBTA. Because the price had dropped to what you paid. Almost jinx. Now at 21 done, with nothing scheduled.

The funny thing is that we could have chosen an 11 night for the same price the following week. We could not fathom WHY you would want another sea day. We understood by day two! 🤣
Did you go to Tunisia? This UNESCO World Heritage Site was worth the long drive into the countryside. I can’t imagine having this opportunity again.

(Rome was definitely my biggest must-see. We did Pisa instead of Florence. It was an easier day than the 12-hour excursion to Florence. And I feel Pisa is now checked off my list. Florence seems like it deserves more time. As did Rome, but at least I got there).

And it was one of my most tiring cruises. But so glad we did it.

“UNESCO qualified Dougga (Tunisia) as a World Heritage Site in 1997, believing that it represents "the best-preserved Roman small town in North Africa".”

Yes, we did the Bardo museum tour. So glad we got to see all of the amazing mosaics before the tragedy a few years later. We did a full day tour of Rome through DCL. We got to spend three days there before our cruise last summer, and were very impressed with all that was packed into our original Disney tour. Our son had just tuned 7 before the 2010 cruise and he remembered Pisa from The Little Einstein’s. We went there out of La Spezia with Disney. We returned again last summer on our own so that we could climb the tower. It was DD’s favorite day. I think because it was the simplest. We stopped at Ajaccio, Corsica and our DD tasted her first real food at 3 months old by gumming some authentic French bread. She now loves Paris! The sail into the bay in Malta with the sun rising was so beautiful with the sun bringing the stone buildings to life. We visited a museum in downtown Naples and had pizza on our own, then raced back to the ship to visit Herculaneum with DCL. We were able to tour Pompeii on our recent cruise. In Ville Franche sur Mer we took the train to Monaco on our own and spent time at the Jacques Cousteau Oceanographic museum and aquarium. The cruise was an amazing way to explore so many places with kids and make it enjoyable for everyone. I especially loved the “Welcome Home” banner that they used to put out above the gangway.

@o&smom - those excursions and other visits sound wonderful.

We mixed and matched DIY and DCL. Malta is such a cool sail in /away.

We opted for Pompeii to get 3rd and 4th generation visit. Started with my granddad after WWI, my dad in Navy, then my niece and me on the cruise. About a 90-year spread. (And we’re not Italian - just a neat link to our family’s love of travel).

Sounds like you are sharing a live of travel with your family, too.
