My moms' group is having a bonfire party at the end of the month, and today it was suggested that everyone dress up in costume. The entire group includes more than 70 women, but we're broken up in to "small groups" of about 8. They want each small group to dress in a theme. :sad2: One group announced that they were dressing in '80s style. My group has no clue what to do!

Any suggestions for a theme for 8 women? We'd like to keep it fairly easy and inexpensive! Thanks!

How about a box if Crayola Crayons? You need a big box for the person who is the box. Then we wore the same colored pants and shirt and took a piece of colored posterboard and made a cone-head for the tip of the crayon and attached string to it and wore that as a hat. Then, for the crayon wrapper, we made sandwich boards--2 12" x 30" pieces of cardboard colored to look like the wrapper and then attached them together with string at the top to hang over your shoulders and then attached at the bottom so they wouldn't swing all over the place.

Another idea is to go as a bunch of signs--one way, stop, yield, speed limits, etc.

What about pirates? There are a ton of cute pirate costumes out this year.

You could get really tacky/80's dresses from Goodwill and go as "bridesmaids"
OR you go as the "Robert Palmer" girls from those videos in the 80's (all tight black dresses, hair slicked back, bright red lips and guitars)

Hi, How about if everyone buys a crown and you each become a PRINCESS or a Wicked QUEEN?? There are MANY variations(Google-Halloween Costumes and Sexy Costumes;) ) I am sure that you can find "clothes" in your own closets(or friends closets) that will turn you into Princesses or Wicked Queens. What about Coupon Queens? Wear crowns and pin or tape coupons to your clothes. Can you tell I hang out on the Budget Board a lot? :rotfl:

Great ideas, ladies! I'll pass along these suggestions to the rest of my group for a vote. Thanks for the help! :)

Spiders. A black t-shirt from Michaels (they're $2.50 this week at ours), paint on a web with white fabric paint (you could all share so you would have to buy less) and pin a rubber spider to your shirt. I bought a hairband by Goody at Meijer that had two spiders in small puffs of white on top of it.

I actually bought the hairband for DD3 because she loves spiders . THen I found out I have to dress up for a class party so I am borrowing it.

You could get really creative and add a fake fly or other insects wrapped in string. Gross but I think that is what my son is going to do to my shirt when I get home from the party so he can wear it.

My husband thinks this is great but I was just looking for something that would be comfortable for the party and would not cost much.
