I am hoping that maybe some of you will have the answers to this very wierd question! I remember as a kid one of my favorite ice cream flavors when we went to the ice cream parlor was bubble gum ice cream. Remember the ice cream witht he bubble gum pieces in it?
As a child I was disappointed if the ice cream shop was out of this flavor, which it quite often was.
Anyway, DH and I were at the grocery store and lo and behold sitting in the freezer was Breyers Bubble Gum ice cream. I quickly snatched it up as DH was busy saying eeewwww.
When DH and I went to get ice cream out he grabbed his flavor and I grabbed the bubble gum flavor. Upon opening the lid and seeing the little chicklet sized pieces of gum DH said now what are you supposed to do with that? I just laughed and said eat it of course. As I began eating it I seperated the ice cream from the gum, leaving behind in the bowl a neat stack of gum for when I was finished. I remember doing this as a child also and I think that was one of my biggest reasons for getting it was because it was like getting two treats ice cream and then gum.
But as an adult I am now thinking how safe is this stuff and exactly what are you supposed to do with it? I mean after you eat a big bowl of ice cream you wind up with a pretty big wad of gum - don't most people eat this stuff with the ice cream? Can it possibly be safe to eat it? If you eat the gum with the ice cream it is still frozen and does not really chew like it does after thawing, rather it breaks into pieces easily swallowed. I can tell it has a thicker candy coating on it then gum usually does... but still if you do seperate it and it thaws while you are eating the ice cream it is a large chunk of actual chewing gum!
I can't believe it at my age I'm actually a little
? What am I supposed to do with this? Actually now I can see why it disappeared and was not available for a long time? I am actually contemplating contacting Breyers and getting their opinions? What do you all do and what are your opinions? I know this is wierd... but come on think about it!!
