Okay, I'm going to try to make one of these babies this year, for my exchange person who is my bear-loving SIL. It *looks* fairly simple based on the instructions on this page, but I know that what's easy for one person is torture for another.

Has anyone got any experiences in making these that they'd like to share?

Thanks! :flower3:

A scented decoration, apparently. I was kinda befuddled at first as well, envisioned this damp-looking brown waxy mess... but the pics of the ones on the site are adorable, and look like something that my SIL would be really happy with. Soooo, yeah. That's it.

I'm with Lisa Loves Pooh.

Just give her a regular bear :guilty:

Dipping him in hot wax will make him stiff and non-snuggly, and it might burn his delciate furry paws!

Save the stuffed bears!

Never heard of this either, when I read the title, I was envisioning a small teddy bear encased in a candle.

As for waxing a bear... :scared1:

Like being buried alive!
How do you even clean or dust something like that?

I got one as a gift last year, and it smelled like "AMber Romance" from Victorias Secret. I was very confused, cuz I thought it was a candle, and it was not. It was just a good smelling wax bear. He did not stick around my home long. He ended up in the yardsale pile, and people at the yardsale were also confused by him.

It just seems like a lot of work, cant you just tie a scented ribbon around its neck?

What if one day it comes to life and busts out of the wax looking for the person who boiled him in wax?:scared1:;)

As a bear-lover, I would say that waxing the bear defeats the actual purpose of the bear, which is to be snuggled and loved.

A bear doesn't need any embellishing - it just needs a cute face and soft fur.

Oh, I kinda think those look neat. Does the wax preserve the bear? Almost like bronzing baby shoes or something like that. I would do this to dc stuffed animal once they are done with it. It would be a nice gift to them when they are older. Or for mom to put in a memory book case about her kiddos. Great idea. The pic on that link of the little tiny dark brown bear being dipped and dripped was funny!

Op, it doesn't look like it would be that hard to do either. Really, what mistakes can you make by dipping them:confused3 Good luck:goodvibes

The last thing that woman needs is another cuddly soft bear hanging around the house.

I just thought maybe a scented bear, whose scent could be replenished with a hair dryer, might make for something different. ANd the pictures on the website made them look nice. :confused3

Would they not be like a magnet to dust? Sometimes candles can be hard enough to dust, so I'd hate to think what these would be like.

Look at all that hair. Those bears DO need waxed.
