So while we were staying at FW we noticed that everyone waves to everyone else. Why do you think that is?

After our 5 nights at FW we moved over to the Beach Club. People were very nice there as well, and we've stayed at Movies and Carribean Beach. But people just seemed more friendly at FW.

Every time we passed an employee they waved, said hello, just seemed extra friendly.

You'll find that at pretty much any campground you go to! Campers, in general, are a very friendly bunch! :goodvibes

I was going to say the same thing. You always find that when camping. It's kind of funny because when the kids were young of course we told them the usual.. "never to talk to strangers". Only when you camp, everyone say's hello or waves. We'd get.."why are you waving to the stranger?".

I don't know if you've seen it, but there is a commercial on tv for boating. It's very similiar. A family waving..and everyone just sort of looks at them as if they are crazy. Then you see them on the water in the boat, another boat passes and they are waving to one another. It's kind of funny. I did find that when we had our boat, boaters were the same as campers...they are both "wavers"!

Well we may just need to add camping to our vacationing list. This was our first time at FW and we've never camped with our kids or been camping ourselves since we were kids.

I was telling DH while we were there we need to look into getting and RV, maybe renting one and seeing if we like it. Some of them looked really nice from the outside.

Your neck of the woods sounds pretty friendly. :thumbsup2 In our neck of the woods there are quite a few wavers too, only they are usually of the one finger variety. New Yorkers...gotta love em!

yeah.....the sad thing about it....the more expensive the rig..... the less friendlier the camper....

Not always .......but more often than not........

I don't think how much money someone's rig costs has anything to do with how friendly they are. It has to do with the person and how they were raised.

If people can afford expensive campers, so be it. No need to hate on them because of it :(

And yes, campers in general seem to be more friendly, but I think it just kind of goes with the territory. Fort Wilderness is a more open and personal place than a hotel room, so even if you don't want to be you're kind of forced into being friendly...lol.

We just got back yesterday and I have to say that camping takes my DH down numerous levels on the stress meter. We both grew up camping but made our first trip together this weekend in the new RV. My DH was waving and smiling and completely chilled out. He didn't sit in front of the TV but sat outside in the fresh air drinking his morning coffee. If there was a wait or a problem, hey no worries. What would normally stress him out, didn't. :thumbsup2

Only problem...he now wants to buy a golf cart!

That's not a problem, that's a victory! More golf carts for all!

We really need to get one ourselves, I feel the time is coming soon!

We did see some really neat golf carts while there.

And the stress metor was always way down, we were very said to leave. My DH was not expecting it to be so nice. We were moving to the Beach Club and DH was seriously considering seeing if we could keep staying at FW.

Ok, well I guess we'll just go with that only poor people can be friendly all the time ;)

:sad2:

I never knew only poor people were friendly, the things you learn every day...lol

So if you're poor to start with, and have a really good job or inherit a boat load of money or something, do you automatically become unfriendly or is it something you have to do consciously?:confused3

They are not waving they are shooing the mosqitos away. j/k

I found that certain niche clubs wave to each other, like they are in on a secret. Jeeps, Corvettes, Boats, Campers, Motorcylcists,Mustangs and I'm sure a few others tend to wave as they pass each other.

Well, it sounds like it happens automatically. I think I'm a very friendly guy, I wave at people, I smile, laugh, enjoy and love life, and love to make people happy. But if I win the lottery tomorrow, it sounds like all of a sudden I won't be that person anymore.

I guess I'll somehow instantly turn into a miserable grouch that yells at kids to get off his lawn and flicks people off while driving around in my Prevost...lol.

No see, you misunderstand, if you drive a Corvette or own a boat, there is no way you should be waving at someone because that means you have money, and those kind of people aren't friendly!!!!!! ;)

Ok, I'll stop now, but at least hopefully the point has been made...heh :P

I drive a Yamaha Vino scooter and refuse to wave to anyone not driving the same. Sorry, it's just the snob I am. :moped:

Too bad this thread is going to get ugly, with all the friendly waving people out there!

Now the real question is, how many of you wave at another boat as it's crossing your path on Bay Lake??!!! lol ;)
