Okay, we have 2 Ohana dinners planned this year. We LOVE 'Ohana but my DH wants to try something new on one of the nights. I will cancel the other when I find something to replace it :goodvibes Problem is, what do I replace it with? We will be at MK on day so we want to stay in the area close to our resort and MK and we will be at both BB/TL the other day and plan on going to MK in the evening so....the same deal. We are thinking WCC or Wave. Which would you choose and, most of all, why. Thanks

Wow, there is such a BIG difference in these two restaurants!!

If it's just for you and your spouse, I would suggest The Wave. It's definitely one of WDW's best restaurants (non-signature) in our opinion. And, there are man healther entree choices as well. WCC is OK for the entertainment, or if you have kids, but is very loud and the food is very heavy, comfort type food, in our opinion.

We never miss going to The Wave on our trips, but will never return to WCC!

We have two DS's 15 and 10 and they like good food. We, most likely, would not be ordering the skillet at WCC but thought the desserts look delish! What do you like at the wave? (Impressed by the menu by the way but not the desserts.)

Hi stepdisney,
As Yodasmom mentioned they are two different experiences. The Wave is a quiter more upscale restaurant and WCC is a fun and sometimes loud experience.

My vote of the two based on the food would be The Wave. The experience at WCC is a lot of fun if you have never been. I did not have dessert at The Wave so sorry I can not comment on that.

Either one you choose I am sure you will have a great time. Enjoy your trip! :thumbsup2

I'd suggest The Wave out of those two. We have had two great meals there.

Both are fave restaurants of mine, but as PPs have said two VERY different places. The Wave is more relaxing and upscale in terms of both decor and food. As for dessert, if it hasn't changed since last August, each dessert is actually 3 separate sample-size dishes. My parents and I each ordered a different one (so 9 samples between us) with the intent of sharing. This worked out great.

As for WCC, we've always enjoyed it. It can be loud, but it is a fun atmosphere. The food has always been good - even the skillet. The desserts here are definitely more traditional than at the Wave. If you've never been the the Wilderness Lodge, the lobby where WCC is located is something to see in and off itself.

I guess it all comes down to the type of experience you want - and, depending on when you are going, what ADRs are available! :goodvibes

So far, it sounds like the wave may be where we end up. We'll be staying at WL so WCC would be convenient but the Wave is just a boat away. Still trying to decide. Anyone else?

Was just at the Wave last week. That is one of our top 5 now. Good food and nice variety of choices. We actually enjoyed the Wave better then the California Grille which we went to also this trip.

Based on the reviews I have read, I would say the Wave. The menu looks really good to me and serving sizes, though small, are perfect. I have tried to fit it into our next trip but I just can't make it work. In the MK area, we are already planning to eat at crystal palace, 1900 Fare , Kona Cafe, and California Grill. My daughter loves to meet characters and to get their autographs.

Small portions? How "small". Is it fru fru like with food as decorations on the plate? My DS's are "Hungry" teen & tweens. Will they want more?

I can honestly say that we were full after our meal - to the point where we didn't finish all of our dessert. We're typically big eaters, and while the portion size wasn't as large as some WDW restaurants, it was adequate - we didn't feel like we needed to go have a snack soon afterward or anything. (FWIW, we each had steak - it was their special that night and was sooooo good.) I will say that the portions at WCC are larger though.

BTW, I should have paid closer attention to your original post - you've stayed at WL before and are going back there ... so obviously you've seen the lobby! :)

But WELL worth mentioning again, and again, and again.....we, too, think it is breathtaking. :cloud9:

Love The Wave for it's food & excellent service. Have eaten here a couple of times & would put it in my top 5 favourite restaurants.

For us WCC was a been there done that once type of place. We found the food was just ok. We did not order the skillet.

We love both restaurants but they are totally different dining experiences.
We also have 2 teenage boys aged 15 and 16 and they enjoy both restaurants so you can't go wrong.
We go for 2 weeks so we like variety. For down home cooking WCC.
The boys love the ribs and apple caramel pie for dessert.
The wave....The chili rubbedFlat iron steak...yum yum ..think of Fajitas.
The Beef tenderloin....just as tender as Le cellier's.
The fish was also very good.
We ate there twice last trip....and they changed the menu mid trip and took off the flat Iron steak .
For dessert the DS's go foe Decadent flavors (you get all three).
I personally love the no suger added trio and the Creamy indulgent trio.... actually all of the trios are great.
Decisions , decisions ...:confused3
I am getting hungry just writing this.
