Wave or Kona

What does everyone think? We have an evening open- Wave or Kona???

I haven't been to wave yet, friends have and have loved it. We do kona and love it

i think they are both good choices. Which one interests you more?

I'd say Wave for breakfast but Kona for lunch or dinner. We have always enjoyed JKona for lunch and dinner, while our experience at the Wave was disappointing (dark meat on a chicken salad? c'mon!) I suppose it does depend on what you are in the mood for that day, but we would tend to go Kona every time.

have you checked the menus? We've had steaks & prime rib at both - loved it.

In fact, we love both these restaurants. If you're adults looking for a quieter meal, I'd say The Wave. Kona is quite a bit louder & livelier (open to the lodge there - so you have crowd noise from the bar & also from people waiting for 'Ohana. Food is great both places, though and wonderful desserts.

We had dinner at both in August. That was our third dinner at Kona and our first visit to the Wave.

Food was better at the Wave. All in my family were happy. I know I'm in the minority here, but I think Kona has slipped in the last two years. It was one of our favorites in 2006, pretty good in 2007, and disappointing on all levels (food and service) in 2008.

We also had some service issues with the Wave, but that's because the server was bad--and again, the food there was good. I really liked the desserts, too.

I'm with you Tam. I too believe the Kona has slipped markedly in the past couple of years.

We didn't much care for the Wave though. Poor food and server who didn't understand the job.

Did your server keep your KTTW card during your meal? That's what ours did. She asked to see it, I presumed because she wanted to know if we were on the deluxe or basic DDP, and then kept it. It took me a few minutes to realize that she never gave it back to me, so when she brought our drinks, I asked her, and she said she'd bring it back to me at the end of the meal. No other servers did that.

I'm in the midst of planning ADRs for our upcoming trip, and no one in the family asked to return to either Kona or the Wave this time, but like I said, if I had to choose one, I'd do the Wave because my food was better there.

Wow, tough choice. We'd have to go with Kona only because it is one of DS's favorites, but I'm hoping we'll be able to fit in a last minute lunch ADR at The Wave on our resort day so that we can try it too.

They both get such good reviews that I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I have eaten at the Wave two times this month. Both times both the food and the service were very good. I have not eaten at Kona in the last few months.

I consider Kona more of an upscale coffee shop while the Wave as a restaurant, probably due to the ambiance.

The Wave is incredible! We cancelled our Kona ressie to eat at the Wave and WOW were we ever glad we did! I have a lengthy review with a ton of pictures in my March link

I would say the Wave. I had a really delicious vegetarian sandwich there for lunch on my last trip and my boyfriend *loved* the seasonal fish dish that he had. He said he would eat there for every meal if he could.

I haven';t eaten at Kona but we had luch the Wave last week. It was very good. The seasonal soup was pork tenderloin with black beans, delicious. If you are a beer drinker get the flight, 3 great local beers for 7.99. The day we were there it definitely looked more like a business/convention crowd, well-dressed, no children. The bar area is beautifully decorated and would be a great place to have a few drinks in the evening. The restaurant area is nice but not as "cool" as the bar area.
