I found the Clarion Waterpark Hotel quite by accident - place looks really neat. Are there any other similar places out there?
Looking for somewhere fun like this for 2 nights before we cruise.

The Hard Rock Hotel at Universal has a huge pool with a sand beach area, a big waterslide and even music underwater! Also the pool at the Yacht and Beach Club at Disney is known as Stormalong Bay which is probably the best pool area at any hotel in Orlando.

Thanks. I am staying off site to minimize costs - just looking for somewhere fun to stay for 2 nights before we go on the cruise. We won't be arriving until about midnight the first night, giving us all of the next day to 'play' and relax, then head off to the cruise the next morning. I can't justify $700-800 for a disney resort for 2 nights, when we won't really be doing the parks or anything. Seems like a waste of money to me.

We just got back yesterday. Our last day (Saturday 6/7) we stayed at the Clarion waterpark resort. The total charge to my credit card for one night came to $123. We requested at booking and got a poolview room on the ground floor. I would recommend that. They first put us in another room with a parking lot view, and the room was fine, but you did not feel like you were in a resort. When we got a ground floor pool view room our mood completely changed. We all of a sudden felt like we were at a nice resort.

Rooms have modern, dark/cherry furnishings. Some rooms have flat screen tv's. All rooms have fridge and microwave. Countertops in the kitchen area and bathroom are a dark granite. Very nicely appointed rooms. Loved that the floors were a large ceramic/travertine looking floor. In a hot climate I enjoy walking on cool floors.

The waterpark slides were open from 10am-7pm. There are 3 large slides, a lazy river, and a fun water area for the real little ones. There was a small basketball court with teens and adults playing pickup games. The regular pool was open until 11pm I think, or it may have been later.

3-10 minutes drive down the road there was a Denny's, IHOP, Burker King etc.

We enjoyed our stay, and if we could have moved the hotel closer to WDW, we would consider it for longer trips. But for a fun, clean, relatively inepensive hotel for a couple of days it was great.
