I have a GoPro Hero 3+ Black that I use frequently and always when I Scuba Dive; also have a Canon PowerShot D10 that is water proof to 30 ft.
Neither camera has ever leaked and both take great Pictures and Video. I do use Samsung Water Proof SD Cards in the Canon.

Whenever you use a device in Salt Water be sure to rinse it with fresh water when finished

Our first cruise, we used the iPhone with the waterproof case. For the second, we bought a Fuji XP80, after a lot of Internet research. If you're a Costco member, I still saw it there as recently as a couple of weeks ago. It's a great little camera. I even took some pictures on dry land with it and they came out really great.

The camera was under $150, as opposed to my iPhone which was $650 (we don't like long-term contracts so I buy unlocked phones), so I decided I could stand to lose $150 if something happened to my camera.

Here are a couple of photos taken with the XP80.

Partyof4la, how are the indoor photos? I tried to just use my galaxy last year and the indoor shots are not well lit in the ship. I bought the lumix for this trip and wondering if my poor lighting problem will be fixed.

I thought my indoor photos came out pretty well. The camera has a decent flash on it.

Thanks! I'm hoping to get some practice soon for myself. I like only having to carry one thing around the ship and the beach excursions.

GoPro! Many models to choose from and work really well not just in the water. With a complete line of accessories it makes it a great all around adventure camera.

Chest straps. Head straps. Just about anything.

I'd go with the TG4. We used it in Hawaii and just left our dslr in the room most of the trip.
Though,, I would not mind trying out a gopro one of these days!

I purchased a waterproof Kodak camera a few years ago and have been pleased with the picture results. This camera was used primarily for snorkeling, has been dropped in the sand and taken a bit of a beating. For the price (<$150) it has been a great camera.

Do you have any suggestions? I was looking at the Olympus tg-860 or tg-4.

We have both these Olympus' and really like them.

I second other posters: waterproof camera. Any leak with the iPhone and you wouldn't just be losing pictures but also whatever else you have on the phone and use it for (until you can get a replacement). I would rather have a functioning iphone and not be able to take underwater pics than a dead iphone that is a brick I can do nothing with.

For our Olympus cameras, we bring at least two memory cards for the pics and swap them out partway through the trip; that way if something happens we only lose some pics not all of them.
