hi all

we will be traveling there next summer in the heat over july 4th..

was wondering if anyone could give me any information on the two waterparks blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon...
which is better and why....
are they really busy busy and is it worth it to go there or just stay at your resort.... we are staying at pop century...

we have been to waterparks before but are wondering what makes these two a must see... or like I said do we skip it and hang at the resort...
we will have an 18,16, 10, and 6 year olds..

thanks lisa

Hi Lisa, Every family is different and I'm always a bit reluctant to suggest things, but my children are 14,13 and 8 (and 41) and would be happy if we went to Florida and ONLY did these two parks. I really think you should go once, early in your vacation and see what they think, especially if you have a pass with the water parks included. Blizzard Beach is my familys favourite. The flumes are more scary and and tubes on the family raft ride are brought back up to the top for you. I like Typhoon Lagoon, especially the wave pool. I think what sets these two apart from other water parks is the Disney attention to detail and the cleanliness. Get there for 'rope drop' , throw your stuff on a chair in the shade and do anything that involves lines first, or go after an afternoon thunderstorm; many visitors will have called it a day. Both parks have a good selection of things for all ages, so all your children should find something they like.

By the way I think they still allow you to take drinks and picnics (no glass) or they do quite a good refillable mug for the day offer, which might be worth it if you have a crowd!

Happy vacation

Jane

I suggest you do a search on the boards because there have been several discusstions lately about the two water parks.

They are both great but we prefer TL. I like the theming better. You can't go wrong with either.

My DD's loved the water park more than MK. The Ketakiddie creek area was just perfect for them! I didn't think I'd enjoy it at all but the lazy river fit me to a tee  !

Have a wonderful trip!

have any of you gone in the middle of summer?
are the crowds going to be really bad?
which time of day is better to go?

we went to vegas this past summer and it was quite busy at times but not terrible... mainly the wave pool was the worst.

and of course some of the slides had longer lines..

I was thinking on getting my two teenagers the pass that includes the waterparks and then the rest of us just paying for a day if we want to go..

how late are the parks open and do they offer a discount if you come late in the day?

Yes, the water parks get very crowded in the summer. If you can't go when they open (9AM or thereabouts), go later in the afternoon (about 3PM) and stay until closing. The price is the same if you go when the park opens or if it is 30 minutes from closing. No discount.

I think the parks are open until about 7PM in the summer.

A lot of locals go on the weekend in the summer, but also you get lots of "daycare" groups in the summer.

thank you for your input...
we have waterparks around here and they do get very busy in the summer so if they are basically the same thing we can do here in washington then we may skip them and just hit the pools at the resort.... we will have enough of the crowds at the parks...
