Waterparks vs SSR

I am going in Aug for 7 days w/ DS 9
I am planning 1 day at each of the parks and the PP party. (No hopper for me). I am staying at the SSR.
Originally I was just planning on going to the resort pool the day of arrival (arrive to resort around 4) and getting an early night. Then again on the day of departure in the morning.
I was planning to use 2 days Tues and Friday at the waterparks as a "break" day. Friday night we are going to the PP party.

But looking at SSR and chatting with other DISers, it is a nice resort w/ a pool and organized activities.

So my question is, should I use those days at the resort or the Water parks? I am debating between buying a water parks and more pass.
I should add that my son likes any kind of pool.

You might post on DVC BB (planning or mouse) and ask about kids activities b/c DVC (esp. SSR) is supposed to have lots of kids activities in addition to pool stuff. I would think that you could easily spend a good part of a day doing a few activities and the pools. That is what we (Mom, and kids 6,6 and 10) are planning to do. We even have WP visits on our tickets (non-expire) and are not using them this summer when we go to SSR.
