Waterparks too cold in January?

Hi. We were wondering if the waterparks will be too cold to go to in January? Considering buying our disney world tickets with the add on waterpark tickets but if it will be too cold then we are just wasting our money. What do you think?

I think it depends on what you are used to and the weather at the time. We went to Disney over Christmas in 2006 and swam quite a bit, but the temps ranged in the 70-80's. On the other hand, I didn't swim much in Feb-March 2005 when we went because the temps weren't nearly as nice.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

And usually in the low season, one of the two waterparks is closed for refurbishing and maintenance. So you probably would be limited to just one waterpark.

We have been down the past 4 Feb.s Not swimming weather for me but try to get my kids out is difficult at best

Wet N' Wild heats their pools to a swimable, if not warm, temperature year round. Obviously they are much warmer in the summer. The Disney water parks always seem to have colder water - even in summer - as the heavy themeing seems to throw shadows on the water. I used to shiver waiting in line in those parks in mid-summer!

So I would say no way to January in a Disney waterpark - a maybe to Wet N' Wild if you're hardy.

I am pretty sure you can wait and add the water park option later. I think you need to do it within so many days of using your first park day. Unless you have the non-expiring tickets, I am not sure I would gamble that the weather is going to be warm enough. We have been lucky enough to swim the past 3 February vacations, but we are from Maine and even "chilly" weather in Florida feels warm to us.

You can add it on when you get there within the 14 day time period from when you first use your tickets. I would wait.

I say GO! You're there to make memories. If it's a little chilly (I don't think Orlando is ever cold), just warm up by playing, then go back to your hotel for a hot shower. It's actually more fun to remember when you did something in different circumstances than the normal boring ones. Have a magical trip!

I take it you've never been in Orlando in the winter months. 30's at night are common - highs sometimes in 40's low 50's. Hardly swimming weather. o course it has and could be in the 80's as well - luck of the draw. But plan on at least "cool" weather in December - February.

Just look at it this way it is not worse than where we are coming from.:happytv: We are doing Aquatica next month. I find once the temp hits about 20c then it is a sprint from the pool to the hot tub. Us Canuckies are a hardy lot we can handle it!:thumbsup2

If you are only going to go to the water park one time and not use any of the and more features. It is usually cheaper to pay for the one day than add the feature. We went in december once and only one was open and then due to clouds, weather etc they kept closing the one that was open. Have a great trip.

Whether it is swimming weather or not depends on the water temperature, in my opinion. We go swimming year round here where I live although the winter temperatures are often around 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

I am assuming you must be fairly close to the Blue Lagoon?:lovestruc How hot does it get? I would love to go there sometime. Our local hotspring gets to about 40c. We go year round also even when it is -25c:scared1:

I´m 25 min. away from the Blue Lagoon :goodvibes It usually is around 38-39°C. You can check out the webpage www.bluelagoon.com. It´s a very cool place!

There are days when the highs are in the low 50's with lows in the 30's or so when the waterparks could actually be closed, then again you could have days with highs in the 80's and that is for sure a waterpark doable day.
