I just booked 8 nights in a cabin at the campground for Jan. I am soo excited, I havent been to Disney since before Epcot was built and the rest of my family has never been. :cheer2: I got the Water Park and fun add on because i do anticipate my 17 yr old DSS and my DH to want to hit Disney Quest and the Sports Place for sure and of couse DH and I will hit Pleasure Island. I was told that the water parks are heated, but do people actually go in the winter to the water parks? Have any of you guys ever done it and how chilly was it?
Thanks so much!

Welcome to the DIS!

Yes, the water is heated.

Winter in Orlando is completely unpredictable. You could have warm days with cool mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoons in the 50s.

In general locals do not go to the water parks in the winter, but a lot of others, mostly Northerners, will go. If you have a warm day while you are there, use that day for the water parks because there is no guarantee you will have another warm day!

I was told when i called at least one of them will be open.

Yes, they only close one at a time for maintenance. We are southerners, so swimming when it is cool is not our cup of tea. Look on the net for weather averages. The water is never warm enough IMO (that is a LOT of water to try to heat) and when you get out wet to wait in line and the breeze blows....YIKES! Older kids may be okay though, particularly if you are from the frozen tundra ;) !

Thats true I am from Louisiana and i would imagine its not gonna be warm enough for me either lol. Oh well just have to spend some extra time at Pleasure Island and Disney Quest to make up for the extra cost.

When I worked there the summer months are much more crowded than the winter months. However there were only a handful of days where we closed due to the number of guests in the park. The limit was if it dropped below 200 guests we would close the park. So there are a fair amount of brave souls out there that venture into the water. Remember the water is heated but the air outside is not.
