Waterpark crowds in the evenings?

Can anyone share their experience regarding waterpark crowds in the evening? I see that they are open until 8 when our trip is planned and I'm wondering if we are better off going to the waterparks when they open in the am, or mosey on in in the afternoon and stay until close. This is my son's favorite part of Disney so it would be great if we could time it right :) Thanks!

We usually go at opening as to find a few lounge chairs and spend most of the day there till about 5 - 6 the return to resort grab some dinner at food court or we will eat at the water park you we are usually wipped out after being in the sun all day that we may just relax at the pool bar or go and play miniture golf
just to relax. We found that going later inthe day is hard to find lounge chairs all together you may have one here and one there lines are longer as the day goes on and if traveling during summer months start out early.:beach:

It can be done either way really. Going early means short lines first thing, and easier access to chairs. Basically you ride the big stuff first and then as lines build switch to the wave pool and lazy river.

If you go later and stay till close, do the opposite - wave pool and river first, slides the last 90 minutes before close. You do risk that lines won't shorten enough to make that last 90 minutes, similar to the first 90 minutes.

If you have a choice, I'd do the morning start. Since the waterparks open later than the regular park you still get to sleep in a bit.

Go in the morning - we found that a lot of people stayed until they announced that they are closing in a few moments. Lines, for example for Summit Plummet, were still around 20 minutes in the late afternoon.

I was amazed when we arrived for RD at Blizzard Beach. We got a lounger and I stood there and looked at this snowy mountain, with no people on it. What a peaceful moment that was :worship:

they really did a wonderful job creating those waterparks

Go for rope drop, get a lounger an go! It takes some time until lines are forming, you can almost do all slides without mentionable queue times then.

Enjoy!

Don't forget sunscreen! I bought tanning-oil some days before. They had different types, with and without protection. I misunderstood the back of the bottle with my sometimes miserable english and I grabbed one WITHOUT protection. I fell asleep in the sun at Blizzard Beach for about an hour. Well, the next day I had a very interesting color.

Thanks everyone! The last time we went we were the first ones in the park and you are right, you have a great opportunity of getting on things before the lines start to form so I suppose we'll go that route. Thanks again!!
