Water with the Dining Plan

Just looking at the menus on allearsnet and I noticed that water is NOT included in most of the menus as part of the dining plan. It's an additional $3.25 in some cases! My DD4 is a water fanatic (shocking isn't it?) She prefers water to ANY drink, and if she orders something like milk or apple juice to go with her meal, she inevitably will want a glass of water to quench her thirst.

Am I going to have to pay for water or just carry a bottle with us at all the meals? It seems a shame that she will not be drinking her "free" beverage that's included with the plan. :rolleyes2

I know you can get a bottle of water as a snack with the DP. Maybe that would be a solution. I am assuming you are not talking about a glass of water which would be free.

We usually buy a case at the Hess station near the Boardwalk and keep it in the room. It is much cheaper that way.

I had a similar problem. I prefer to drink water with my meals but the tap water there is absolutely awful! It has a dirty taste and smell to it that I just can't stomach. I ended up drinking soda during most of the meals since they wouldn't let me get bottled water as an alternative included on the plan.

Maybe your daughter won't be able to taste the difference, but I'd be careful if you were considering the tap water. As much of a shame as it is, I'd get her a bottle of water as a snack through the DDP and order her a glass of juice or milk with each meal as well.

Also, that's wonderful that your daughter already has such great drinking habits! Nothing better than water for you. :)

I didn't notice the bad taste of the water when there was a lot of ice and it was really cold. Tap water is free at the parks.

Yes!! I'm so glad too! And it's such a shocker to me because I can't stand water!!! Not really even a fan of bottled water. I'm a Cokeaholic!!! :rotfl2: So glad she didn't get my desire for the carbonated stuff!!

I think we'll just keep bottled water on hand from our snack points. Plus, we have a Brita bottle...maybe that will tame down the tap water? Do you think if we ask for tap ice cubes, it will make the bottled water taste funny?

I can't stand the water in WDW - it actually gives me stomachaches. (Is it chlorine? Or something else? Anyone know?) But, the Brita bottles do filter it well enough to solve the problem. I had a friend with me one day who started out making fun of me, then finally tried it and said the Brita-filtered water was as good as the bottled water she'd paid for all day.

As for the ice..... if it's in the bottle, no taste worries. If you're thinking of filtering the water into a glass with ice, it'll probably be ok unless DD drinks/eats so slowly that the ice melts more than usual. If you're going to filter, maybe put the water AND ice into the bottle, then filter the cold water into the glass?

The water's like that all throughout Central Florida. Sulphur is the culprit. My wife grew up on the stuff and still cannot stomach it.

Any chance your daughter will go for club soda? Any place that serves fountain drinks should be able to give you plain carbonated water. I do this all the time because I don't care for soda or ice tea, and don't always want to shell out for a bottle of Pellegrino.

We just got back and had no problem getting large 24 oz waters for our CS meals everywhere but Earl of Sandwich. I didn't get water everywhere as sometimes I got them a large chocolate milk. My DD 6 also won't touch soda - she acts as if I'm trying to kill her if i even suggest it :rotfl2: We were able to get regular milk, water, choc milk or fountain soda. At TS, we never ordered water so I don't know whether that would be included but had no problem getting milk or juice and the occasional chocolate milkshake (Yum!)

Hope this helps and have fun - we loved the dining plan and saved a ton of money
