water view POFQ question

We booked a water view room at the POFQ and was wondering if anyone knew what building that would put us in? We're hoping it is a pool view!

Hey Scott,

You have to be careful with those water view descriptions. Water view could mean you get a view of a pool or prehaps the river, but it could also mean you get a view of a fountain in a courtyard or a 5 foot puddle, so to speak. If you have a specific request for a water view, I would suggest calling the reservation desk and letting them know. I had a water view at POFQ in 2002 and I had a nice view of other buildings with a 5 foot fountain in the middle of a courtyard. Whew, won't do that again.

We were just at POFQ May 8-16 and had a water view room. However, I had faxed my requests in the day before we left and asked that we not have a pool view. We ended up in bldg 1 with a beautiful, quiet view of the river and the golf course. We loved it. This link gives you a map of POFQ so you have an idea of the bldg locations. We thought we'd be far away from everything being in bldg 1, but we didn't have more than a 4-5 minute walk anywhere! Loved everything.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. The map was helpful. We check in on 6/14...Is it to early to call and request a specific bldg?? And what number would I call.....Thanks again. Oh 1 more thing, My 13 year old DS is wondering did ya'll see many kids his age at this resort?

Scott,

It's never too early to call WDW to provide your requests. The CMs always tell me, the sooner the better.

Actually, it can be too early to make requests. See the thread by CMboy (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=560293). He makes good points. I actually meant to fax my requests three days before I checked in, but didn't get it done until the day before. I got three of four of my requests. I explained each request briefly (e.g., We would prefer a river view because this trip is a thank you to our parents and we believe they would rather see the river than the pool). The CMs were very polite. So my advice is read the post by CMboy and then get your fax ready, but don't send it to POFQ until three days before check in. And remember! They are requests and are not guaranteed.

I would suggest having the requests in your reservation rather than faxing. More and more resorts are ignoring the faxes. They don't have to match up your fax with your reservation then.

Just call reservations and add your request. Even when you get to the resort you can make a request if it hasn't been met.

safetymom is right. When we stayed at WL two years ago the CM told us then that they rarely read faxes anymore. We always give our requests when we book or call CRO later and add them. I have also heard of guests calling the resort a day or two ahead of arrival to confirm everything. We have never tried this though.
