My kids want to rent these but i have a few questions. Can you get them at fort wilderness. Do they have that special family los package here? I read someway that there are better places to rent these, can someone tell me which lake is the best and if I get the package at one resort is it good anywhere u can rent these?

When you say "kids", how old do you mean. I ask this because it is my understanding that you have to be 15 and older to rent them on your own. Otherwise you must have an adult with you. Anyone under 15 can not even operate them,.... not even if an adult is with them.

That said, I am not aware of any packages at FW, they do have one at WL. I don't know if you have to be a guest at WL to get the package. The package is $199 for unlimited water mice, and bikes.

As far as Lakes go, I think FW and the Magic Kingdom resorts (WL, Poly, Contemp., GF) have the best lake around for water mice, second to none.

Hope I was some help.

The age is 12 to rent the water mice and drive it alone not 15, we were just there and my 12 year old was able to take one alone, but we didn't let him, my mother rode with him just to be safe. He just turned 12.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, my youngest is 12 so they can all ride. What fun, I can't wait.

My oldest will be 12 in December, just a few short months before our next trip. I know there is a height requirement too, does anyone know what the height requirement is ????

We just got back from FW last week and while we were there, did the Family Plan that was mentioned earlier. WHAT A GREAT DEAL!!! For $199, for a one-week period, you can have up to 4 ..... yes, 4 boats at a time out on the water. There is no time limit that you have to be back. This also includes the pontoon boats which usually run somewhere around $70 an hour to rent. They do allow you to bring snacks or a picnic lunch on the pontoon, but there is no fishing allowed (understandably). On two occasions we had the pontoon out for 2 1/2 hours and on 3 occasions we had 4 water sprites out at once. Since there is no time limit, we were able to all go completely around Bay Lake around all the resort areas. They do not let you dock at any other resort, however. The remainder of the time, my daughter and husband had a least two of them out on the water daily. My youngest daughter is 12 ..... 12 is the youngest age that you can drive the boats alone, but you must also be 5 feet tall (I think that is the piece of information that nobody has yet posted). Before leaving for our trip, I took my daughter down to our Secretary of State office and got her a state I.D. so that there was no question by the staff of her age ..... this did help. Overall, it was a great deal and one that we hope they do not discontinue. We are going back in November, and my whole crew is already talking about the fun they plan on having next time!

Thanks to all that answered but I have a questiong for bianca. My family is old enough but we are short, me being 4'11" and my 17yodaughter is 4'10 1/2". My 13yo daughter is 5feet but there is my 12yo 54" ds. I hope he grows 6inches by december. Are they very strict with the height req? Do you need to be this tall to operate the boats? Will we have to double up with the taller members of the family and if so will we fit? Weight limit? Sorry I have so many questions, My kids really wanted to do this on our trip in december and I don't want them to be disappointed at the time.

My son stood next to the pole and I know he was a tad under the top, I'm sure he's more like 4'11'', and they let him drive, and he had no problem seeing over the wheel. I really can't see them enforcing the 5 foot rule on an adult or licensed operator of a vehicle, in my opinion that would be discrimination against short people:mad: .

I would agree about the "adult short people" and that they would undoubtedly let you drive. As for the 12 year old, I'm not so sure. They had a height chart painted on the wall right where they write up the orders and take the money for the sprites. They measured my daughter and she only made it by 1". Good luck ...... it really was a lot of fun!

Thanks, We are hoping he has a growth spurt before we go, but if not he can ride along with one of us. (ME an the girls will have on sneakers that give us alittle extra height.) Maybe I can sit on my passporter to help me see. I can't wait this sounds like so much fun.

Just put some thick soled gymn shoes on him!! Don't go bare foot, or in beach shoes. ;) The extra inch may be the ticket!!
