I'm off to WDW in September and heard many people recommend buying one before hand, unfortunately where I am they are apparently very difficult to find despite record highs for us this year. How much are they in WDW? I saw some from WDW listed on ebay for 24 plus shipping, are they 24 at the parks?

I believe I've read they are $13 at the parks -- certainly not $24!

Try your local Wal-mart. We got ours there for less than $5 & they work great!

:thumbsup2

ya, i tried a few places including wal mart, we really only have 2 hot months here though and not surprisingly wal mart doesn't carry them here. We would get them while there but I don't think we're renting a car. 13 isnt too bad.

Thank you for the info :)

We bought MistyMates and love them!!! Much better (to me) than the spray bottle fans. Your hand doesn't get tired from pumping the sprayer (very important to me...I'm a cake decorator and use my hands a lot, so they hurt a lot too). The misters cool you off quickly, and have a carrying strap too. And, they are insulated so if you put ice water in them they'll stay cooler longer. They sell them at Wal-Mart or Walgreens here.

One of the problems with the ones WDW sells is that they are so BIG ( I guess to justify the price, which I think is closer to $15). The little ones from Walmart are so much more convenient, although a pain to keep refilling. Don't forget extra batteries (AA)

I second the Misty Mates instead of the spray fans and the bonus about them is they don't require batteries.

my parents went to DW 2 weeks before me and my DF and his family went. they had bought some at the local dollar store for $1. they were a life saver! and they were just as good as the ones at the parks, which i believe were $14. i'm glad i saved that extra money for something else!

make sure you fill it half with water, half with ice so it stays cold longer.

you're going in September? i don't think it'll still be THAT hot for you to need it, but i could be wrong. i've never gone in september. only in July, April, and December.

have fun!

I heard september was the hottest month. Ive never been to Florida though so i dunno.

September's plenty hot. I picked up 3 of the fans at Walmrt plus the betteries. BUT...they were the cheapest plastic and my DS's broke 2 of them in the car on the way home just by "testing" them! I took them back the next day and the CM(OOPS, I mean, Customer Service Employee) said thay get the fans back all the time! Either the battery door-thingy breaks or the foam fan thingy pops off (We had one of each such incident). They'll be harder to find as the summer stock starts to sell out, so I'm thinking I'll buy the expensive ones at the park so if it breaks we can replace it during our stay.

we often buy cheap ones, but the problem is they break way too quickly.

If you buy a disney one and it breaks they will exchange it for you..

We bought one last year at WDW for my son - - it was $14. It was great to have in the heat, however it is quite large (it comes with a strap to keep over your shoulder). Also, my son would get tired of carrying it and would pass it off to me or my DH (or try to convice his little brother that he needed to carry it!). Twice he left it on a ride (thankfully, the CMs still had it when we went back for it). It is a nice souvenir (decorated with characters) that we have kept and will hopefully use again.

I just purchased two 16 oz deluxe Misty Mates from http://boatersoutlet.com. Instead of the $75/each on the MistyMate.com site, I paid $25.99 each plus $10.99 shipping.

I think I did pretty well!

My sister highly recommends MM . . . they used one for a recent Braves game and said it was a lifesaver and that the kids LOVED it!

Wow, the 16 oz. ones here at Wal Mart are only $13! The also have the smaller "sport" ones (which don't have a carrying strap, only a clip which I don't like because when you fill them with water they're too heavy to clip on to anything) and I think those were around $9 or so. Check Wal Mart or Walgreens.

I scope the link and the one photolisa is super deluxe, its basically a vaporizer that has a separate hose and creates what is presumably a cold blast of air. Its not the standard spray bottle for sure!

I think I'm going to settle on the ones at WDW as we dont have walgreens here and Wal Mart here doesn't carry anything remotely like spray / fan bottles where I live. I think its just too mild most of the time here.

They have them for sale at the parks themselves. They also have them at the resorts and DTD. You won't need to make a special trip to buy them.

If you do get them at the park, they will have them full of water and sitting in a bucket of ice.

This is so true. I recently took my broken WDW mister fan to DL for an exchange. I wasn't sure if they would and of course I didn't have the original receipt. I asked the CM, very pleasantly, if I could exchange it-she checked with hear lead and voila, new mister. And I can honestly tell you that I bought the original one at least several years ago. They haven't changed the style in years and they are the same at WDW and DL. We also have the cheaper version (from Walmart) but our WDW one works best. :cloud9:

I almost gave up looking for them in our Wal-Mart, too. I looked all around the seaonal section. (Smart on Wal-Mart's part; I wound up buying several new beach towels and an armload of sunscreen I hadn't planned on getting.) I was about to give up and leave when I happened across the hardware section. For some reason, it never occured to me to look with the air conditioners and window fans. Sure enough, there they were.

I also picked up a couple fan necklaces. It's a 6" box fan you wear around your neck that blows air up on your face. We'll see how long they last. They may be more annoying than they're worth.

Yeah, I found the Misty Mates in the fan section at WalMart. You might want to check there.

When are you going in Sept? I could pick one up for you and get it to you down there if you'd like. If you'll be there after I am, I could probably leave it at the resort you're staying at if it's on property. LMK.
