Okay, I am posting this question on behalf of my DH who, even though he's not a DISer, knows how smart everyone here is. :thumbsup2
We were wondering about water softeners. If anyone has one and what they think of it. Does it really work? Was it worth it? And any other info you might want to share. Thanks!!! :sunny:

We have one and it's made a huge difference! We have very hard water and it was affecting everything from the dishwasher to the laundry to the shower heads, which I had to replace every 4 years or so because they were so gunked up.

We installed a softener as well as an undersink reverse osmosis system for drinking water and the icemaker in the kitchen. Not only is everything from our clothes to our hair cleaner :goodvibes , but we have drinking water and ice that is as good as the pricy bottled stuff.

We used Culligan, they set it up and deliver the salt a couple times a year.

We have extremely hard water in our town and everyone has a water softener. I feel they are well worth having. Around here they are hooked up to the hot water supply so the cold tap water doesn't have that salty taste. I use very little dish soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, etc because of the soft water. We also have salt delivered, monthly though. The delivery people check the softener each time they come, too, to make sure it is working properly and we own our softener.

Thanks for the replies so far. :thumbsup2
DH was like a kid asking me "Did anyone reply yet??" :hyper:
