Water Softener

How can you tell if it is actually working?

Besides the orange that starts to show up, I notice our soaps don't bubble as much.

I feel slimy after rinsing in the shower. Seriously. My parents have a softener and the gym I use has one as well. I cannot rinse enough in those two places.

Is it supposed to feel like that? Others experience?

I suspect that shampoo and bar soap would not foam as much if the softener isn't working.
