How strict are they about letting you through the gates with bottled water? I've read that there is a security check point you must go through prior to the actual Disneyland gates. Will they make us toss out water bottles that may be in our bags so we are forced to buy the water in the parks?

Same question with regards to snacks. My lifesaver for my 3yo DD is a baggie of goldfish crackers and raisins. Will I be made to toss them out if I have them in my bag?

Also, does Disneyland offer reusable/refillable cups? I'm picturing the kind that comes with a straw that you pay one big up front fee for but then get a reduced price for reusing and refilling that cup?

Thanks!

DL is very liberal about allowing you to bring in food. The one big rule is no glass. You can bring in sandwiches if you want, even small soft coolers! You just can't bring in things to prepare food. Basically, five pre-made sandwiches is fine, but you can't bring in a loaf of bread with a pack of cold cuts and a jar of mustard...get it?

Disneyland does NOT however have the refillable mugs like WDW has.

I don't know about the refillable cup, but you can bring water into the parks and you can refill them with COLD water at the Plaza Inn and the Mexican restaurant. Snacks are ok too. We used to bring a backpack, once we were done with the diaper bag ;o) with little baggies of crackers. Have FUN!

They are wonderful. We would bring about five soft lunch boxes of snack/ drinks and never had a problem. It just took us longer to get past security as you have to unzip everything.

Thank you all for the replies. Yes, I can understand how they would not want one to bring in a selection of items to then MAKE such things as sandwiches. Glad to know we can make them ahead and take that in.

Sad to see they don't have refillable cups/mugs. It seems like such a no-brainer to off such a thing. The money is made from the cup, not the dispensing of fountain drinks.

Thanks again for the info.

The Plaza Inn (off Main Street) is THE BEST for ice water... in fact, you don't even need to bring cups to get tall glasses of ice water.

Does anyone know if aluminum water bottles are allowed? My DD has a Hello Kitty one that she drinks out of all the time. Thanks!

We bring tons o' toddler food in every time, and I never go in without my water bottle. You can get a cup of ice water for free at any quick service window, and I use that to refill my water bottle often, although the water fountains are filtered as well and the water tastes fine to me. I think a refillable cup might be a profitable idea but honestly, I like that it's cheaper (free!) and more convenient to drink water than soda--healthier too!

Couldn't agree with you more on water as the option over soda. But, being a non coffee drinker myself, there are some days when a little jolt of caffeine mid-day helps. :yay: Also glad to know we can bring in the aluminum bottles.
