Water shoes allowed on the slides at Blizzard Beach?

Hello everyone. It's been some years since I've been to one of the waterparks but last time I was there Disney actually sold water shoes (don't know what they are REALLY called) and you could wear them down the slides. Can you still wear them on the slides? The pavement in Blizzard Beach could literally make you cry it was so hot and this alleviated the pain. Someone told me they don't allow the shoes on the slides anymore. Can anyone confirm/deny? Thanks!

I have always been instructed by the Cast Members to take them off and hold them on the way down the Slides.

I have always worn water shoes the whole time I'm in the water parks. Unless this is a new rule thats been implemented since June '08,then as far I know water shoes are allowed on slides.

For the older kids and adults this may work fine, but for toddlers and young kids (those tall enough to ride the slides) this seems unreasonable. We have always worn water shoes to water parks, both on and off Disney property and have never had a problem wearing them on the rides and slides. We're planning a trip to Typhoon Lagoon in a few weeks and I have the water shoes packed for everyone. Our hot, calloused feet thank the water shoe companies!!!

This is taken directly from the Blizzard Beach page of the WDW website.

"It is also advisable to wear water shoes or flip-flops while visiting Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park, as you may choose to climb stairs to access certain attractions. Plus, the ground can get hot and so will your feet!"

While it's not definitive, it would be strange for them to advise you to wear water shoes and then tell you to take them off on the slides.

I think you can wear them on every slide but the straight drop and the double drop one for safety reasons. If the rubber one the bottom of the shoe grabbed the slide on the way down while your going 50+ MPH it would be pretty dangerous.

I wore them the entire day back in October, but the CM did make me hold them when I rode Summit Plummet.

This makes sense. I would think those ones you will be asked to remove them.

Does this apply to crocs as well? Water shoes give me blisters.
