How soaked do you get on the water rides?
I'm planning on wearing a poncho, but will I still get pretty wet?
I'm probably going to put my cell phone in a ziplock bag and put it inside my bag, but my bag isn't waterproof..

Very wet. If you do all three in a row, you will feel like you dove into a swimming pool fully clothed. I wouldn't worry too much about your phone though. It won't get submerged unless you drop it in the water. But just to be safe, put everything in one of the free lockers. They have them up around Jurassic Park. I'd suggest wearing flip flops or crocs or something without socks. Your shoes will be squishy afterwards.

But the rides are awesome. Especially Dudley Do Right. I've never been on a log flume ride that hits the speeds that it hits. Those boats are flying down that last hill.

Jurassic park is a hit and miss.......sometimes we have been drenched......other times hardly a sprinkle.....all depends on how the boat is loaded.......we were bone dry once sat in the front row......row behind us......soaked!

Dudley.........drenched.........

Popeyes bilge barges.........absolutely drenched........no point in lifting your feet to try and keep them dry as water gushes in from above you at times too and just drenches you.

Poncho's are pointless most of the time.

Soaked. Embrace it. Prepare for it. Either change into something else before the ride or have clothes to change into after. And I'm talking about changes of clothes down to underpants, bra, and socks. And shoes.

The rides are VERY fun and are not to be missed, but you want to be prepared.

Yep, that are really wet rides. Agree, on Jurassic ride, you can get nothing, mostly just a sprinkle, other times, very wet. Depends on where you are sitting, and how full the boat is. Love it though. Dudley, doesn't matter what seat your in, water sloshes into your boat lots of time. You tend to get soaked. On Popeyes, just like Jurassic, I've been dry, and I've been drenched. What we do is, we wear our bathing suits under quick drying clothes, and flip flops or shoes that can get wet. I wear a water poof lanyard, and just carry my tickets and ID and some money. I leave my phone and camera and purse back at the room. When we're done riding, we slosh back to the hotel, freshen up, and return to the parks. Most of the time, my kids head for the hotel pool before refreshing up.

I compare it to jumping in the shower with your clothes on. Popeye's and Dudley' are awesome and totally worth being soaked.

Ahhh so I guess ponchos won't be much help then :confused3
It seems like just bringing a change of clothes seems like the best idea and renting a locker for those rides

I'll probably get laughed at, but I'm going to ask anyway... is the water on the water rides cold? We skipped the water rides last time we visited (and Jurassic Park was closed anyway) but are heading back soon!

If you're worried about things getting wet do what I do and bring some ziplocks and a garbage bag to keep things nice and dry. Always worked on Kali

They have free lockers. No need to rent. Of course, the free ones won't fit changes of clothes for the entire family. But you can put a couple of purses, phones, wallets, etc in there.

Agree completely with this!! They really are fun though - Dudley's is awesome, really different than what we've been on before.

We wear clothes that are thinner - think running shorts, quick dry shirts & water shoes. Do them in the morning (usually hitting a few other rides on the way over to them), then back to hotel for lunch & a swim before getting ready & going back to the parks later in the day. It does help that all 3 are very close together.

I was going to say the same thing. If the lockers are required (MIB, RRR, Hogwarts, Diagon, DC, Hulk, Dr Doom, etc) they are free. Places where the lockers are optional (water rides, all day at the front of the park, etc) cost money to rent.

There is no where in Jurassic Park or Toon Lagoon (as far as I know) with free lockers.

Thanks for the confirmation ladies.........I thought you paid for those lockers, but I wasn't 100% sure as we never use lockers for water rides..........:thumbsup2

Sorry - my wife used the lockers there, not me. I just assumed they were like the other lockers in the parks.

No problem PantherPete, honest mistake. Just wanted to clear up the confusion so no one banked on free lockers :)

Never felt the water was "freezing" on any of the water rides, kinda ambient really...........except once, our stay ventured into November.......made the mistake of doing Popeyes on a dull cool day.......I shivered all the way back to the hotel.......lol.......but generally it's so hot it's kinda nice to get soaked.......

We always stay onsite. We pick a specific time for the water rides head over to IOA in our swimwear and ride them multiple times each for a couple hours, then head back to our room to change. :D
