I know there is not one answer to this question, but I'm curious...

Just how wet does one get in Kali River Rapids and Splash Mountain?

I ask because I'm trying to plan my days - and the idea of walking around soaked to our skivvies for hours isn't all that appealing :lmao: At least not for my wife and 13yo daughter :)

If it's a soaked to the gills answer I guess it will just be my son and I!

Splash is not that bad...Kali on the other hand, you have the potential to get SOAKED. You will at least get very wet, but you could literally be swamped with water rushing into the boat. You go under a waterfall too, so that is happening. I use a dollar store poncho for Kali, mainly to keep my waist and below dry.

I've only done Splash one time and didn't get a drop.

I only got a little wet on Kali the 3 times I've been on it, but others in the boat were soaked head to toe.

For Splash it kind of depends on what time of year too. I think there are some water.cannons that.don't seem to be as forceful in the cooler temps. I did it on Dec and got like 3 drops of water on me. I've done it in July and have gotten a lot more wet. Not sure about Kali....have only done it once and was pretty soaked.

Yes, this is "Raft Roulette" and it always seems that SOMEONE on the boat will come out relatively dry... The boat turns so it is possible that someone gets lucky...they can even be shifted through the edge of the waterfall and barely get anything. Good luck!

I wear a poncho on both. I do not like to get wet. Even with a poncho you get soaked on Kali. the water POURS into the boat/raft. We didn't even do Kali our last visit because it really isn't that great of a ride and not worth IMO walking around wet.
If you do Kali take your shoes off and have flip flops or water shoes and keep your shoes in a bag sealed.
On Splash you can get a tiny bit wet or you can get soaked on that to, depends where you sit and who else is in your log, the water can come in over the sides a lot. Wear a poncho and make sure you tuck it under your bottom and legs.

We get wet enough on Kali that we bring a backpack with a change of clothes for after we have had our fill of riding it which is usually 3 or 4 times in the day.

Kali River Rapids wear a cheap poncho, hood up, tucked under your legs/butt and lap..still may end up with wet shoes but you should keep your torso and butt dry :cool2:

Kali is either all or nothing, IMO.

Splash can be bad but if you sit towards the back of the log, you're usually pretty safe. We get plastic bags and put them over our shoes (nothing worse than wet shoes!).

Just wanted to mention that we got soaked on Pirates in December, so keep that in mind, too! There was quite a bit of weight on the front row, and when we went down that tiny little drop, a massive wave hit the front of the boat and a sheet of water drenched us. We were in the second row and water was just dripping off of us. Totally unexpected! As we exited through the gift shop, a little girl asked her mother "Mommy! Why are those people so wet?" :lmao:

I read somewhere that they're using a new boat design that is more sensitive to weight distribution in the front, so be aware!

While there is never certainty in water rides in general I'd say:

1. Splash Mountain- I usually at most just get a little spritzed on this- mostly in the face, maybe a little bit of wet shirt and butt from the seat. Hardly soaked- for me any wetness is refreshing as its generally warm if not hot at WDW and you'll be dry soon enough after getting off.

2. Kali- here you will be positively soaked no question- you will be directly hit by several large waves that splash up, and even if you somehow miss all of those, pretty sure you will pass under a waterfall. One time we came i did bring a large black trash bag, i employed a "poor man's poncho" by ripping open a head sized hole on the bottom of the bad and put the thing on prioro to riding and was able to walk off with a wet head, but almost entirely dry clothes, as I wasn't feeling up to having soaked clothes, but still wanted to enjoy the ride.

You most likely will NOT get soaked on Splash.

You most likely WILL get soaked on Kali.

Once or twice my wife got so drenched on Kali we had to leave and go back to the hotel. The ponchos can help but sometimes the water just pours into your seat so you are basically sitting in a bathtub for 3-5 seconds. My kids and I love the ride - my wife will only do it if we are not planning on staying at AK for dinner.

Well we got SOAKED on splash last year. Front row. And it was cold out. Brrrrr.

This year I'm bringing ponchos.

Splash Mountain: It really depends on the day. I'd say the worst we've ever had was a bit wet. Typically I get a few drops on me.

Kali: SOAKED!!!!!! We are larger folks and my wife and I always end up on the bad side going down the chute. In comes the tidal wave and we are drenched for the rest of the day.

If you're sitting next to me, you will get soaked on both rides. :rotfl: It seems I'm always the one that lands up getting soaked.

Splash I noticed you tend to get more towards the front of the log.

Kali, as others have stated, is luck of the spin.

I usually wear dri-fit clothes and flip flops. Sure feels good to cool off during the summer. I'm usually dry within the hour.

I don't like to walk around wet either, so we leave the Kali ride for last. Last time I was dry before we made it back to the room, however my son was soaked from head to toe.
