My question is does DCL provide bottled water? Is the tap water on board the ship good? Would it be best if I bought a case of water before we board and carry it on with us, can I do this?

DCL provides it for a cost. It is not free. I have heard the water is not that bad. I have drank it in the dining rooms. But otherwise I buy the bottlewater. I think I am going to take some this year in my new disney rolling cooler though.

There have been several threads about the water onboard. Do a search for "bottled water" to read what has already been posted. The drinking water on the ship is perfectly safe to drink. The water at the beverage station on deck 9 aft has been specially filtered to improve taste even more than what you get out of the tap in your statroom or in the dining rooms.

Trust me when I say that I am picky about the taste of water. I know it should not have a taste, but if it does... I will taste it! I thought the water from the tap tasted fine (not like the chemical taste in our tap water at home).

Basically the ship water is filtered just like bottled water.

We bring a bottle of water each in our carryon and refill on board.

You could bring on a case if you want...I usually buy a case onboard, its somewhere around 30.00 for the case and room service brings it right to your rooom.

I'm a bottled water drinker at work and we have a filter at home. The water onboard is great. We bring empty sports bottles and just fill them up. When heading out on excursions we fill them with ice first and then top off with water - works great!

On the first day on board, they offer a good price if you buy a case of bottled water and keep it in your cooler for the trip.

Also, the ship "makes" it's own water from evaporation of seawater. This is common on all large ships (experience in the US Navy), and the quality is excellent and purer than anything you will ever get through a tap on land. The only question would be if the water is treated with any chemicals, and if so, what and how much.

Yes, it does have chlorine in it, but I sure couldn't taste it. Health code requires it.

Only reason I know this is SOMEONE posted a link to cruise ship inspection reports here. In reading Disney's, it mentioned that Disney was marked down for not logging chlorine readings on the drinking water system. It was a very very minor infraction. I think they are supposed to check and write down the PPM of Chlorine in the water every 6 or 8 hours. One reading over a 3 month period didn't get logged.
