Water Parks

Two out of four family members do not know how to swim. One is willing to wear a life jacket and try some of the tamer things at the water parks.

However, I seem to remember reading somewhere that no personal flotation devices were allowed to be used at the water parks...... :)

I know you can lay around, read and just relax while others are in the water, but if you can't wear life jackets, then I am wondering if it is worth spending the money to go........ :confused3

Any thoughts out there?

TIA

Both of the water parks have zero entry, so like walking into a lake, wave pools. They could easily wade into those without needing to swim. Also, both lazy rivers are only about 3 feet deep so they could stand in those as needed, but since you float on an innertube around those, they could do that. They wouldn't need life jackets for either (I am gathering from your post that these are adults not little kids).

The only place it really gets deep is the big wave pool at TL. When the waves come in, they can be 10-15' high and the water further out is deeper. I stay close to the beach, about waist deep and I'm fine. I do the lazy river all the time. Great fun.

I don't know if it helps, but the lazy river at TL is full of single and double tubes that you can float in. And it is water that is about waist level for an adult. There are also lifeguards at each of the entrance/exits. :sunny:

We just spend two days at TL and one at BB. Lots of children were wearing life vests and other PFDs. I didn't notice any adults wearing them, but I can't imagine Disney would object to that. As noted by other posters though, there are lots of attractions where the water is not deep, nor is there a strong current. If it is a fear of water, that is one thing. If it is merely not being a good swimmer, I think that person would be able to do quite a bit. Definitely watch out for the wave pool at TL though. The waves are large and can knock over anyone.

You can use Disney's child size life preservers free of charge. You just have to leave a driver's license as collateral.
