i believe sweetdana is speaking of plantar warts.
from mayo clinic:
the virus does thrive in warm, moist environments such as shower floors, locker rooms and public swimming areas. Consequently, you may contract the virus by walking barefoot around pools or gyms.
I read through the mayo article and I remember when I was a young teenager I had one and it was painful. I also remember my Dr had me do something I even found odd at the time. I put the white johnson and johnson (not sure what it is called off the top of my head) on it and left of for a week then pulled it off, did this a few times and what happened is I basically pulled the wart out root and all from the bottom of my foot. I remember some pain but also thinking it was pretty cool to do. Never heard of this again until I saw the "Duct Tape" method on the mayo site...not sure on the success rate but first hand it worked for me.
The weird stuff you can learn on the Disboards!!!!
