What do people usually do when it comes to footwear and the water parks? Do you take water shoes and are they allowed on the rides?

I'm thinking about my three year old more than anything. On all the videos I've watched people seem to have bare feet, I can't see her walking around without something on her feet though.

We always go barefoot even our DD who is now 6 and that was in the height of summer :goodvibes

They spray the paths with water and they are quite shady so its not too bad.

I always found water shoes more of a pain than a help personally :goodvibes

We went to Blizzard Beach two days ago... and were fine barefoot!

We were quite worried about the heat on our feet, and were quite prepared to buy water shoes once we got there - but there was no need! They spray most of the pavement with water constantly, so it's cool. There were a few bits that were unsprayed, but they're not parts you routinely walk down so it's okay!

The people there who were wearing shoes, either left them at the bottom of the slides, or they sort of looped them (flip flops) over their wrists.

Oh great, it sounds like we'll be fine without them then. Thanks!

My kids wear water socks and have done on holiday abroad for years (as well as in the UK after I spent many painful months trying to remove veruccas from my eldest's feet (she is a big swimmer)!). I vowed never again and found these speedo swim socks - they are fantastic. My kids will be wearing these on holiday in waterparks and as they have a grip on them, less likely to slip over etc.

Google children's speedo pool socks - they come in pink and blue.

I will be taking at least 2 pairs for each of them as they do have a tendency to wear through but that is after months of poolside use. Might even get a pair for myself as they do them in black for adults.

Always go barefoot. There's enough water sprinklers around keeping the pavement cool so we've never had any issues.

I don't like walking barefoot in public places, so for me 100% with water shoes.

Yeah I tend to wear them...especially for bathrooms, changing rooms etc. Never been asked to take them off on any of the rides.

Me too. I personally find it too hot not to and there's no way Id enter one of the water park bathrooms in bare feet. Yuck.

I've never used them but I don't like my feet being grotty after a day walking around barefoot on paths so I've bought some this time.

Most of the paths are sprayed to keep them cool, but not all. The queuing areas are sometimes not well sprayed and you have to basically dash between the cool bits!

Definitely water shoes for us from now on!

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to go with the water shoes after all. The bathroom posts swayed me! We're only really planning on doing the family raft ride at Blizzard Beach, so I assume we'd be fine wearing them for that?

Yes fine on raft ride.

I've been asked to remove water shoes only on one slide at Blizard Beach. Not Summit Plummet, the second highest. I didn't do Summit Plummet or other scary slides, so I guess the most intense have a similar policy.
However all family slides were fine with water shoes.

Been to both water parks this past week at WDW and none of us wore water shoes and had no problem with hot feet, and last week was one of the hottest weeks. Saw some people wearing flip flops who just put one in each hand when on slides :-)
