I am hoping to hit a water park when we go next week, but notice on the forecast that the warmest day also has thunder storms forecasted. Do they close the water parks due to lightning when these happen? Or am I absolutely crazy to think of going to a waterpark when rain is forecast?

Yes,and no, they close the park for lightning. You have to get out of the water, but, they let you stay at the park until they see if it is going to blow over.

Depends on the park, too - Blizzard closes due to lightening a lot sooner than Typhoon, due to Summit Plummet being a big lightening rod. :) Don't worry, we have a weather station and the park is shut down in plenty of time. I was there in the summer, with daily thunderstorms. Everyone has to get out of the water, but you don't have to leave. Usually the storm blows over in an hour!

although they will close the water parks temporarily during lightning, going to the water parks on rainy days can turn out to be a great move as everyone else leaves and you'll have the park to yourselves. never could understand why people leave the water parks when its raining?? aren't you already wet?
