Water Parks, Slides and Bathing suits?

Hi,
I have never been to a real water park in my life and cannot wait to go to both of Disneys in April. I was told the best thing I could do is to wear a one piece bathing suit so that both pieces of the suit are at the bottom with me  As most females know, finding a nice bathing suit is difficult. I finally found one but when I got it I noticed it has a closure between your shoulder blades. It's just a small plasic piece that slides into the other side.
My question: Will this closure come undone during the slide down the water slides?
Will they let me on the slide with that against the slide?
The suit goes low in the back, does it hurt going down the slide with bare skin showing??

Any, and I mean any insight would be awesome! Thanks :disrocks:

Suits and sections of suits pop off in water parks all the time.
Its a topic for much discussion, humor, and internet posting of pictures.
It makes sense to make SURE ahead of time that your suit won't pop open under a bit of stress.

The water-slides, by their very nature are, SLICK with WATER so bare skin will slip and slide freely without "burning".

(Since you now know that you may lose part of your suit, you'll want to know that any exposed skin will not be "burned" as you slide uncontrollably in front of many hundreds of your closest new friends, many with cameras at-the-ready.)

:goodvibes

Thanks :) The closure is actually just a support for the bra inside. So it's not exactally keeping anything together. There are still shoulder straps. What are the chances that is the closure was to open that the suit will open enough to expose me haha :confused3

Thanks for the help again, anyone elses thoughts would be great as well :)

Anyone else have an opinion?? If theres one thing I've learned after readnig the DIS every day for almost a year is that there are no shortage of opinions :)

Deb that is the best post i have ever read. I keep trying to convince my teenage girls that bikinis are not a good idea for the water parks. They would rather be caught dead than be caught in a one piece bathing suit.(although apparently they can be dangerous as well) Wonder if this post would change their minds? Makes me want to wear my one piece, long sleeved, long legged, zip up dive suit.

Whew! What a story Deb, I think if that ever happened to me I would be outta that park pronto as not to embarrass myself any more. That poor thing

Do you think this suit had arm straps too besides the closure, I mean the one on my suit is more for support than keeping it on I think.

Sorry to bother everyone, I'm just scared haha, I don't want a similiar and when you plan this big trip you dont want that to be the only story anyone knows about your big trip is the one with the big butt exposed :)

I looked at your picture of the suit. It looks fine to me. I've been down everything but the huge slides (I call them the wedgies) in regular 1 pieces and had no problems. If you go down Humunga Cowabuga and the other one from Blizzard Beach (can't remember the name) -- you will get a wedgie no matter what, but your top should be safe. Hope this helps!

I think the suit you picked will be perfectly fine. Have fun!!!

I think that's a really cute suit!! I might have to order one:) Too bad they don't show the back.. that's unusual not to.. so i don't understand what you mean by the plastic piece... but that looks like a good sturdy suit with nice arm straps. I didn't do the slides so I"m not much help but I"ve been on water slides at other parks and I"ve seen people fine with bikinis... maybe the people whose suits fall off .. the suits are too big and loose?
Think.. men are just wearing shorts and make it ok:) I think you'll be fine. Have a great time and no worries... The suit looks great!

ok I just found the pic of the back with the plastic clip.. if this came undone, your suit wouldn't fall off.. it just adds extra hold I think... it looks very sturdy and you will surely be MORE than safe.:) I'm willing to bet on that!

This isn't really responsive to your question, but I think it's a good idea to wear board shorts at water parks. One time (at a local park) a screw or something snagged a hole in the bottom of my favorite suit.

I usually wear a 2-piece swimsuit, but the kind that has the "boy short" bottoms. This helps to avoid the "power wedgie" you get from some of the faster slides.

If you decide to do one of the really high slides (like Summit Plummet at BB), I recommend wearing a t-shirt over the suit, because you get going so fast that the water actually stings. In fact, shotrs wouldn't be a bad idea on that one as well.

A few years ago, I had a plastic clip break on my swimsuit top going down one of the slides. When I plunged into the pool, down went one side! I thought I grabbed it in time, but when I caught sight of my DH, his eyes were huge & his jaw was hanging! I said, "I'm sure nobody else saw..." Then he looks around at the 40 or so people standing around the pool and said, "Oh yeah, I'm sure NOBODY saw!" Yikes... :scared1:
