Hey there fellow Dis'ers!

So tell me of water parks. Specifically, adults who go to the water parks--what makes you want to go? Tell me what you like about them, what you dislike about them, how much of a day to devote to them, etc etc.

Report!

Well when we go we tend to spend the whole day. I love the lazy river and giant wave pools. The water slides are amazing,my DW and DS spend their time on them(I usually hit a few). The waterparks are done in true Disney style. I have to say though my one issue is that you really kinda need to be there before opening to get a good spot to sit.

I have been to WDW many times, and on my last visit my freind insisted we go to the water park. We went to Blizzard Beach. I had no idea how huge these were, and we were there in July, so it was peak season and extremely busy. We were all adults and we had a blast! We only devoted a half day (2-7) to try to avoid the largest of the crowds. Turns out it was crowded the entire time.(Duh) We could have easily spend a full day there. If you get tired of the water activites, there are lots of great lounging knooks, and refreshments. We enjoyed good pina coladas! I knew I'd kick myself later if I never did the Summit Plummit, so I had to. I loved it, and I'll do it again someday. We went on every water slide. The only bummer was we ran out of time to enjoy the lazy river because the slide lines (and the lift to the top) took so long. It was definately a great family spot, and I saw every age and every body type all in swim wear enjoying themselves.

We love everything about the water parks! Especially when we're on our own without 2 DS's and the lazy river can truly be lazy (i.e. not chasing after the kids!). :thumbsup2

We usually start out at opening time and stay for about 3-4 hours. We usually do the "big" slides first and then get to the rest of the slides and raft rides. After that, we usually get on the lazy river and hang out for a while. Our last thing is usually the wave pool. I don't think I could spend the whole day in a water park. Dh would never last, and I get tired of climbing stairs after a while. I don't care to hang out in the "beach" areas, so once I've done the slides, etc., 'm finished and ready to go to the room for lunch.

Things would be different if I didn't have the flexibility with my admission, though. If I had bought a 1-day water park ticket or something, I would most likely go back for a few more hours in the afternoon.

We just went with some friends on vacation without our kiddos. All I can say is it was AWESOME to float in the lazy river for 2 hours straight and do nothing and be responsible for no one. The guys played on the water slides and we floated. It was a perfect 3 hour trip to a water park!

we loved both parks! Just DH :smooth: and I, floating down the lazy river
(a fav of us both!!) the water slides...DH :smooth: still reminices of me going
(terrified :scared1: ) down the summit- FIRST-before him- I might mention--
remarking that he could see my "wedgie" from up top! good times,
good times......can't wat till May 07!!! :dance3:

I think that all depends on what time of year you're going. We were at TL last week and didn't get there until almost noon...and there were MANY good spots available.

We went our last full day in September 2003 w/ 6 adults at Typhoon Lagoon. Afterwards, we all said it was the best day of the whole trip. We spent a good 2 hours on the lazy river, Castaway Creek. We did all the slides and rafting rides. For the first time, I even did Humunga Cowabunga. Got to do that again.......

It was crowded, but we got there before opening and when the gates opened, we were able to get the area we wanted. We were only going to stay for a few hours. We ended up being there for 6 hours.

Wow, what glowing repsonses!

I look forward to hearing more.
And while we're at it, anyone who has done both: have a favorite of the two?

I prefer Typhoon Lagoon. I like the tropical theme over the Ski Resort theme. Even as crowded as it was, it seems like it is the anti-theme park. What I mean by that is especially when you are on Castaway Creek, you are forced to sit and do nothing. Just floating along....I almost fell asleep a few times. :teeth:

Just my .02 cents. I know several folks who love, love BB.

We love the water parks, and now that TL has got the great new Crush 'n' Gusher slides it's gotten a whole lot better. In May we spent the last our at TL doing those slides over & over again.
The shark reef is also really fun.

BB has great slides too, love the toboggon racers and the family raft ride. Get your raft really full and you FLY!!

We went off season, and for us, it was a chance to have a relaxing day after a late night at PI, and it beats doing nothing!!

TL is nice and laid back, and has a fantastic wave pool. I love the shark reef, too. BB is great for Summit Plummet and the family raft ride. TBH I wasn't too bothered about anything else in either of the parks, but I prefer TL to BB just for shark reef. It's one of the best attractions at Disney if you love wildlife (and don't mind the freezing temperatures!)

My son wants to go to one of the water parks during our next trip (hopefully in May).I was wondering if there are any other families that only one parent goes with their child and do you have to go on all the slides with them or can you keep an eye on them without doing that. When we go someplace like that, I like to be able to see where my son (11 yr. old) is at all times.

Good Point- I should clearify. We usually go during school vacation or summer time.

DH and I just got back from WDW and we had a blast at both BB and TL!! The theming at both parks are great, although I'm partial to BB because I love Christmas . . . At TL, Crush n Gusher was great, make sure you try all 3 versions because they are different. My DH loves wave pools and we definitely agreed TL was much better if you like huge waves. DH loved the shark reef for snorkeling, but I'm a freeze baby so I skipped it because it's only 65 degrees!!

Otherwise, we like BB better! Summit Plummet and slusher gusher are much better than TL's Humunga Kowabunga, and shockingly they don't hurt as much. The inner tube slides, family raft ride, and definitely the lazy river are much better at BB, so if you had to go with one park that's the one I'd recommend!!

But if you can do both go for it!! My best tip: be there when the park opens! Since we went in September it was nice and warm in the morning, the parks were empty so there were no lines, and the ground wasn't hot yet so it was very comfortable. We did go one afternoon for just an hour but it was much more crowded and the ground was a little too hot for my tootsies.
