Hello everyone!

I am just wondering if going to one of the Disney water parks with a 2 year old will be any fun? My daughter will have just turned 2 when we go to WDW in May. I have bought the water park fun and more option for my husband and my son, but debating on whether or not I should add it for myself and bring our daughter. I am thinking I might be better off to stay back at the resort with her and take her to the pool for a bit, and just explore.

Has anyone been to the water park with a small child? I don't want to ruin my son's time or have to leave early because my daughter is cranky. If you would go to the water parks, which one would you choose for a 2 year old and 6 year old? What would you do?

TIA!!

Both water parks have play areas for small children.

If you feel your 2 year old needs to leave early, wouldn't you just take her out and have your son and husband stay and play? That would work unless you don't want to take a chance on paying for a ticket for a full day for yourself. You would not need a ticket for a 2 year old.

Sorry, I should've made that clear. I don't want to buy the water park option if I only end up at the water park for a few minutes. Thanks

If you think it will only be a few minutes, you might be best off sitting out. They do have options for small kids. maybe take a look at some photos from Google and see if they might be the sort of thing your child might enjoy or if you think she will just get bored. If she likes the water, she might have fun.

I think your entire family would enjoy the water parks. I highly recommend Blizzard Beach over Typhoon Lagoon for a 2 year old. Personally, I prefer Typhoon Lagoon. However, the wave pool at TL is too intense for small children. They both have lazy rivers and areas for toddlers.

Have a magical trip.

there are, however, wading areas at the very edges of the TL wave pool for small kids (with adult supervision).

In all honesty, I would just skip it with a 2 year old. You can enjoy so many other fun freebies. Take a trek to Animal Kingdom Lodge and look at the animals. Or go to Pop Century and Art of Animation resorts (you can walk between the two) and enjoy the great themes, and characters. Or just lounge at your own resort.

I agree with Quellman. I wouldn't go with a two year old. You will be stuck in the toddler area with her the whole time and, that's just not worth the cost IMHO. I would stay at the resort or go to a park if you have a ticket. Maybe do some rides or attractions that your 6-year old might not enjoy, but your 2-year old would?

I went when my youngest boys were 11 months and 2.5 yo. My oldest was 10yo at the time so we did the water parks mainly for him. My little ones enjoyed the water parks. I think the kids area at Blizzard Beach was better than Typhoon Lagoon. However, they probably would have had just as much fun at our resort's pool and splash pad. I'm glad we went because I enjoyed being there. DH and I took turns riding with oldest DS, so I wasn't stuck in the kid area the whole time. We were there the week of the 4th of July so it was super hot and crowded.

I wouldn't go specifically for the 2 year old. However, if YOU want to go, there is plenty to do. (Assuming you have a child that likes the water.)
I've brought toddlers to Blizzard Beach in the past. In addition to the kiddie area, there is the 'lazy river,' the pool, the family raft ride and the slides where you can go down in a double tube. Just beware that lugging a double tube up a gazillion stairs while helping the two year old along is exhausting. There is also a height requirement for the chair lift up Mount Gushmore for the family raft ride. (32') You can use the stairs, but again, it can be tiring.
I've never regretted bringing a toddler to a water park. But, we've always had older children that we were going for and enough adults to trade off so that everyone had some fun.
