Water Park Tips?

I tried doing a search, but it didn't work, sorry if this has been asked.

This will be our first trip to the Water Parks (2 adults). Just curious if anyone has any tips for us? Are there better times/days to go? I've read about some plastic holder for our tickets/cash...anyone used those? You can get those right at the water park right? How big is it? Will it get in our way of the water rides?

Since it's just the two of us, I'm guessing we we'll have to put all of our stuff in a locker & just go in there all day? Has anyone ever had any issues w/leaving their towels on some chairs & being able to come back to them? I'm just thinking I wouldn't really like to keep going back to the locker each time I want to use my towel/wear my flip flops to walk around??

I think I've read a 1 pc for women is best, so I plan on doing that!!

We have the plastic thing that goes around your neck, but found a locker to be much better.
No problem with leaving towels, etc.. We brought the ones from our hotels. (nobody wants to take those!)

*TIP*** We brought an underwater disposable camera with us.. That way we could get it wet and leave it around with nobody taking it.
Just be sure if you are bringing it through airport security to pack it in your carry on and take it out before xray and ask them to "hand check" it. Same goes for the way back.. (it is 800 speed film and the xray will make your photos hazy.. know this from personal experience.. )

its a good idea to take one of your own towels cos if you rent all the others they're all plain white and if you've got one different one it'll help mark your spot if you all go off in different directions. Have never had a problem with anything being stolen or moved. Also the mini doughnuts are fab try those! also be wary that the bottom of the wave pool in TL is a little rough, you may scrape your knees, that wave is pretty strong.

Scraped Knees
When we went all 4 of us had scraped knees.. Not just from the wave pool, but when some of the slides dump you out in shallow water!!

At the end of the day at Typhoon Lagoon look around at all the scraped knees.. its pretty hilarous!!

Last May, we went to Typhoon Lagoon on a cloudy/rainy day and had a blast. We had no lines for the Crush n' Gusher, or any other ride. We figured we were going to get wet anyways , so why not still go. We did and didn't regret it at all!

Does anyone know if there are any hammocks at either of the water parks? My DH isn't crazy about water parks (although he did like Typhoon Lagoon) and if I can find him a hammock to relax in, the rest of us can go have fun without worrying about whether or not he is happy.

The water parks are one of our favorite things to do in WDW.
I would also suggest using a locker rather than one of those things that go around your neck. Weekends tend to be busier than weekdays. We favor Blizzard Beach over Typhoon Lagoon, but you will have fun at either one.
I have never had a problem with anyone messing with our stuff when we leave it on our chairs. There are plenty of places to sit. There are chairs and picnic tables everywhere. We try to find a fairly secluded spot in the shade (not easy to do), drop our stuff and go.

We tend to take just the bare miniunim so as to not need a locker. If you need to put it in a locker, far away, why do you need it. Just an added pain to me. We wear our suits under some shorts and a jersey, plastic holder for ticket and room key, no money whatso ever. Flip flops and a towel, if anyone wants that, more power to them, do not like worrying about my stuff, hence, why we take none, nor need any.

We have never been to a water park either and my son wants to go during our trip next month. I have alot of the same questions you do - can you get those neck things right at the water park? If you get a locker, is the key an actual key or is it one of the cardkeys?and what do you do with it while you are in the water?

Can you wear water shoes on the slides? I've heard it can be hot to walk around on the concrete, but didn't know how people managed shoes once they get to a slide.

Get a decent pair of water shoes. They will protect your feet from the hot sand and cement. You can wear them on most of the slides.

Get a waterproof wallet if you don't like repeated trips to your locker.

Go early or wait until the afternoon.

Yes,...they sell the waterproof containers (that go around your neck) right in the park gift shops. They have 2 sizes...the large on is $6.00 or $6.50.

Buy your waterproof disposable cameras at home..they cost a small fortune in Disney.

Our local Target sells them for only $7.49 each.
We always take 3. We go to the waterparks a lot.

I believe that everyday is an early entry day for the waterparks...at least it was that way in January & I saw it on the schedule for our trip in May.

Definitely the weekdays last Jan. & for our trip in May...not sure about the weekends.

I usually get a locker to put my wallet with our park passes in. We have the waterproof container on a lanyard that goes around your neck. On most mens shorts style bathing suits there is usually a loop somewhere on the outside of the suit, I put the lanyard through that and put the waterproof container in the pocket.
The waterproof disposable cameras are a good idea too, we have had a lifegaurd at the start of a raft ride ask for our camera as we were getting in the raft. She took our picture and then tossed the camera into the raft as we were floating away (I love Disney).
We have never had anyone mess with our stuff, left at a chair. We just leave our towels and shirts/shorts and maybe a bag of snacks.
If you wear glasses make sure you get a pair of croakies, they will hold your glasses to your face. I use either these or one of those strings that attach to the ear thingy's (techinacal term) on your glasses. I will even put the string through the back of my ball cap in case I lose them both they will be easier to find on the bottom of the wave pool.
And yes, a one piece suit for the ladies is a must. Especially if you plan on going on the speed slides, although it is fun for the guys to sit at the bottom of the slides to watch the scenery.

Is that why my husband enjoyed the water park so much!

I wore a tankini and didn't have any problems. Although, I didn't go down all the slides. I most definitely agree with getting a locker. They are inexpensive and its nice to have a place to put things.

I'm guessing they are asking about the waterproof containter w/the lanyard? I would like to know this too...is it only something that you can get at the Water Parks? I guess I can't even imagine what it looks like to start looking before we go?
