Water Park / Swimsuit Question...

Some water parks have restrictions on attire. Such as, I like to wear shorts over my swimsuit and when I go to other water parks, I am told I have to take them off to go down the slides. I do NOT understand this stupid rule especially since men wear swim trunks!

So, my question is would I be allowed to wear shorts like in the link below at the Disney water parks? Has anyone else worn a similar swim suit? The bottoms are sewn into these trunks so I would not be able to take the shorts off.

I was just at the water parks this past week and I did see people wearing bathing suits with similar bottoms. However, I only saw the people walking around and can't remember if I saw anyone on slides with them. I can't see it being a problem, because most mens' swim trunks are a lot baggier than that, and I think one of the main reasons water parks have rules regarding swim attire is so that nothing will get caught in the slides. I did see a couple of people wearing regular shorts and/or t-shirts over their suits, and I also saw 1 girl wearing a short jean skirt and she was going down slides with that. I think you will be probably be fine. Have fun!

Basically you cannot wear anything with exposed metal on the slides since they can damage the slides.

I think like CF stated they just don't want you wearing Jean shorts with the ribbets exposed.

Yup - as long as there are no metal rivets on the shorts there isn't much they can say about it.

(and if they do try to tell you to remove them, tell them it wouldn't be appropriate for a family water park! )

Cut off jean shorts are also not allowed especially if the fabric is fraying from being cut.

Thanks to all for the responses! That makes sense about the metal messing up the slides. I will try to find some that has no metal at all.

Nope! Most certainly NOT a Disney-type show. This reminds me of a thread I read a while back about a lady having a little....ok a BIG mishap at one of the water parks. If I can find that thread I will post the link. It is MORE than hilarious!!

Good question, because I have a swimsuit with those shorts. And I love it, and would be mad if I wouldn't be able to wear it at BB. I'm also glad that I'm able to wear a tanktop over my swimsuit top.

I just don't know how to ask this question without sounding stupid or being embarrased but here goes: is it ok, and allowed, to wear speedos at typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach? My nephew went to Europe last year and that was the style of bathing suit on the beaches and at the water park they went to while visiting France. He challenged me to wear a pair at the waterparks when we go in July. Of course he's comfortable wearing them in public as he's been on swim teams for over six years but I'm a little apprehensive about doing it unless it is a common sight and I'm not the only one.

actually, i've seen a lot of european guests wear speedos- they're a lot more common than people think- just make sure it's the correct fit (that could be disasterous )

Good thing I don't ride Summit Plummet then - I'm a one piece swimsuit gal (which y'all should be eternally gratefull for! - the more I cover up the better!)

Probably the best post I have ever read. Back when it first popped up I quickly copied it into email and shared with those who I knew had been and would appreciate, and those who were going and would be advised to pay attention to their apparel.

To answer the OP question, I always wear nylon (they don't slow you down) type shorts over my suit and on the slides at Disney. My reasoning is that all that sliding does damage and pulling to the suit fabric and wearing the shorts protects it.

I don't think it's so much a rule as a good idea... hang on, hear me out here, I'm not trying to be disgusting.

Mens swim trunks are made from a completely different fabric than your average pair of shorts. I hate hate hate hate walking around in my bathing suit only, frankly it's more of a public service than anything that I cover up. But I've tried going down water slides with cotton shorts, no exposed metal, no cut-offs... just baggy cotton shorts.

It doesn't work. You stick to the slide and the ride down is difficult and uncomfortable.

If anything, a no shorts rule would be to keep people from blocking the slides and preventing the necessary flow of people down them to keep the lines moving.
